Great Salt Plains Health and Enid Community Clinic are excited about the merging of our two organizations, which will create greater access to care for the community’s most vulnerable patient. ✨

“This is really a win-win for both organizations and especially ECC patients,” GSP Health CEO Tim Starkey said. “Patients will no longer be restricted to Tuesday evenings, twice a month, and they will be able to access other GSP services. We have asked Janet to stay on to help educate our staff about caring for these patients and ensuring a smooth transition."

The current clinic location will remain the same, and will be fully staffed Monday through Friday.

“The Community Clinic and its volunteers are to be commended for the work they have done, and continue to do, to provide care for families who would otherwise not have access,” Starkey said. “We look forward to following their example of providing quality, compassionate care.”

Great Salt Plains Health y Enid Community Clinic se complacen en anunciar la fusión de nuestras dos organizaciones, lo que creará un mayor acceso a la atención para los pacientes más vulnerables de la comunidad.

La directora de Enid Community Clinic, Janet Cordell, RN, está entusiasmada con el acuerdo.
“Hemos tenido una relación positiva a largo plazo con Great Salt Plains”, dijo Cordell. “Esa relación solo se ha fortalecido en los últimos meses. La ubicación del lado este de GSP fue dañada por una tormenta de granizo el verano pasado y necesitaban encontrar otras ubicaciones para ver a los pacientes. La Clínica Comunitaria fue la opción perfecta”.

Cordell señaló que después de Covid y la expansión de Medicaid, la cantidad de pacientes de la clínica disminuyó y nunca se recuperó a los niveles previos a la pandemia. La edad de los voluntarios de la clínica también contribuyó a la decisión.
“Queríamos asegurarnos de que estábamos utilizando los recursos de la clínica para ayudar a la mayor cantidad de personas posible. GSP atiende a todos los pacientes, pero tiene sistemas establecidos para atender a la base de pacientes que antes atendía en la Clínica Comunitaria. GSP está comprometida con el cuidado de los pacientes, independientemente de su capacidad de pago”.

Cordell noted that after Covid and the expansion of Medicaid, clinic patient numbers were dwindling and never rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. The age of the clinic volunteers also contributed to the decision.

“We wanted to make sure we were using clinic resources to help as many people as possible. GSP sees all patients but has systems in place to care for the patient base previously seen at the Community Clinic. GSP is committed to caring for patients, regardless of their ability to pay.”

GSP Health CEO Tim Starkey agreed.

“This is really a win-win for both organizations and especially ECC patients,” Starkey said. “Patients will no longer be restricted to Tuesday evenings, twice a month, and they will be able to access other GSP services. We have asked Janet to stay on to help educate our staff about caring for these patients and ensuring a smooth transition.”

ECC assets will be transferred to a special fund at GSP and be used exclusively for patients who can’t afford medication and durable medical equipment as well as patients who can’t afford even the lowest co-pay for health care services.
Ivy Epps, Enid Charity Ball President, said the organization is thrilled with the merger, which will allow many more patients to be seen.
Enid Charity Ball is an annual fundraiser to meet medical needs for those in the community who cannot afford medical care.

“This is a good move for both the patients and the volunteers,” Epps said. “The transfer of the money raised from the Charity Ball and the Community Clinic assets will be transferred to the GSP Cares Fund, which will allow this money to be used directly for patient care.”
