Cleaning the house used to be a difficult task because of my hand eczema.
Now I don't have to think about how I'm going to get it done.
When things were tough, I'd say things like "when my hands are better, I will happily clean my house."
Now that my hands are no longer an issue, I sometimes find myself not looking forward to cleaning.
It was good to remind myself about how much I used to wish to do chores without pain and said I'd never complain about having to do them.
The entire time I was cleaning, I reflected and was grateful for how far I've come & didn't give up my fight.
The cleaning process became more meditative as a result.
If you're needing light today, I hope I can encourage you.
You see me cooking, working out & cleaning just like everyone else but these tasks used to be very challenging.
I'm grateful for:
- my hands not cracking & bleeding from just holding a vacuum
- cooking & doing kids' hair without pain
- no longer dreading folding laundry
- being able to perform simple things like turning a doorknob
Life gets better but it doesn't happen overnight.
What kept me going is not only my determination to get better but the support from my peers.
If you're reading this, please remember that you are not alone. I understand your pain and challenges and I am here for you.
Don't think that you might bother someone by seeking the support you need. I got through the toughest parts of my healing journey by being supported by others.
The journey gets a little bit easier because of the encouragement others give you to lift you up when you have trouble finding strength on your own.
Don't be afraid to say I can't do this alone, I need help.
