Cleaning the house used to be a difficult task because of my hand eczema.

Now I don't have to think about how I'm going to get it done.

When things were tough, I'd say things like "when my hands are better, I will happily clean my house."

Now that my hands are no longer an issue, I sometimes find myself not looking forward to cleaning.

It was good to remind myself about how much I used to wish to do chores without pain and said I'd never complain about having to do them.

The entire time I was cleaning, I reflected and was grateful for how far I've come & didn't give up my fight.

The cleaning process became more meditative as a result.

If you're needing light today, I hope I can encourage you.

You see me cooking, working out & cleaning just like everyone else but these tasks used to be very challenging.

I'm grateful for:
- my hands not cracking & bleeding from just holding a vacuum
- cooking & doing kids' hair without pain
- no longer dreading folding laundry
- being able to perform simple things like turning a doorknob

Life gets better but it doesn't happen overnight.

What kept me going is not only my determination to get better but the support from my peers.

If you're reading this, please remember that you are not alone. I understand your pain and challenges and I am here for you.

Don't think that you might bother someone by seeking the support you need. I got through the toughest parts of my healing journey by being supported by others.

The journey gets a little bit easier because of the encouragement others give you to lift you up when you have trouble finding strength on your own.

Don't be afraid to say I can't do this alone, I need help.

It's been a month since I last posted. It's because life has gotten busier in a good way.

This week was another packed week. I had the desire to slow down so much but was not possible until Friday. Something that's different from before I changed my lifestyle 6 years ago is I make self-care a priority.

When you do this, you look for the opportunity. I had 20 minutes before my next task so decided to use the time to get on my yoga mat. I had no particular plan but to let my body guide me. I sat in silence and lay down for a few minutes just breathing deeply, then slowly started moving my body, going through different yoga poses.

This changed the rest of the day in a good way.

Taking a moment to slow down benefits your autonomic nervous system which regulates your heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and digestion. Utilizing meditation or yoga is a great way to calm it down which in turn provides you with rest & relaxation.

Why I like doing this - because each time I notice my response to stressful situations changes afterward. It helps me stay calm &  keep a positive outlook which helps me see the good even when things get bad.

Even if you can't get on a yoga mat, you can "simply breathe in fully, then breathe out fully, longer on the exhale. Studies have shown that a deep sigh returns the autonomic nervous system from an over-activated sympathetic state to a more balanced parasympathetic state. A deep sigh is your body-brain's natural way to release tension and reset your nervous system."

You can experience anxiety & fear while you heal your skin. This can make us overreact to things more than usual.

Knowing the importance of taking time to regulate your autonomic nervous system will be useful in your healing journey.

Took on a new challenge recently so life is busier but I'm grateful to have built a foundation of knowledge to stay in tune with my own health (thank you eczema!).

Health isn't built in a day or a month: it is an ongoing effort but it becomes effortless when you are consistent & things that are new to you now eventually become part of your lifestyle.

Finding what works best for you and building upon it is the key to long-term remission of eczema. This is what I offer as part of my coaching service.

If you're interested in working together, send me a message anytime😊

Happy New Year from our family to yours!

Hope you've had a restful holiday season✨

The path of healing your skin holistically may seem long at times but I can assure you that it's not just healthy skin that you will (re)gain in the process: you will also improve your overall well-being as a result. If you have a family, there's a chance that their health will also improve. There's definitely a ripple effect.

Try to focus on the bigger picture when things get tough and remember why you're putting in work to heal your skin. Don't forget to look for the positives even when things seem dark.

Be open to learning, changing, and growing in the process. You will come out on the other side stronger and more confident in your abilities which will help you throughout your life.

I look forward to being of service in your healing journey this year.

Let's make 2023 a great year!

I see many of you being confused about what to eat or jumping from one diet (nutritional protocol) to another and not giving it enough time to show results.

Our bodies are all different so it's dangerous to blindly follow someone's suggestion especially when the person has never analyzed your nutritional intake and checked your lab results.

If you are confused, the basics which can be applied to not only those who are trying to heal their skin but also anyone trying to be healthier is to eat less processed foods and consume more whole foods (the closer to the natural state of the food, the better). If you are eating meat, go for organic/grass-fed, if you are eating salmon, choose wild-caught rather than farm-raised.

Cut out artificial ingredients that you don't know what they are made from, highly processed oils and sugars. Eat organic produce as much as possible, especially the dirty dozens (check ewg.org for details).

It takes time to change habits so be patient with yourself in the process.

If you need help, I'm here for you.

In my practice, I make this transition as simple as possible by meeting you where you are. Together, we find the lifestyle that works best for you and that you feel great with because this is how you achieve long-term eczema-free skin.

Don't make this process unnecessarily stressful. You have plenty of other things you might need to stress about but I can help you not make food/nutrition/diet a stress factor😉

Hello December!

I love beginnings because there is a little excitement to it😊

Beginning of a new day / week / month / new year...

How will you spend the last month of the year?

Will you spend it feeling at peace that you’ve done your best this year to heal your skin or feeling behind and trying to rush and catch up?

📝 Reminder 1: Healing your skin is not a sprint & your body will heal on its own timeline.

📝 Reminder 2: It’s the end of the year but life is a journey so you have all the time in the world to still work on your health that you didn’t get to accomplish this year in the new year.

👉 Set your intentions for this month today so it will help you feel less overwhelmed throughout the month.

When things get busy, it’s even more important to make time for things that bring you joy and balance because you want to avoid creating unnecessary stress.

Things that help me bring balance to myself when life gets hectic are:

🔹️Writing down the things I need to do the next day before bed so I don’t go to sleep thinking about them or worrying about forgetting them.

🔹️ Prioritizing sleep💤 😴

🔹️ Waking up a little earlier to have a moment of peace before the day starts: house is quiet and my head is the clearest. I use this time for meditation or journaling.

🔹️Making time for family because my heart gets reenergized.

🔹️Staying consistent to move my body even if it's for 5-10 minutes.

👉 Making these things as simple as possible is the key to staying consistent & have inner peace.

Wishing you a wonderful start to the new month!✨

When is the right time to get serious about healing your eczema?

We often delay paying attention to symptoms until they greatly affect our quality of life.

But since skin problems mirror what's happening inside of our bodies, sooner you tackle the underlying issue(s) the better.

If you neglect them, they can get worse and require longer time to heal.

Thinking about doing something vs. actually taking actions are two different things with two different outcomes.

My own healing journey has made me more in tune with myself which is great.

Down side is, it bothers me a lot when I feel out of balance 😅

I love starting the week on a positive note but yesterday wasn't that kind of a day for some reason.

I went on with my day checking off my to do list but still felt off.

So I decided to make some time to help myself return to where I feel balanced.

What I tried:

Quick yoga flow (I like how yoga automatically makes you do breath work because I easily get distracted when I try to do it on my own)

Slowing down and enjoying my time with my daughter on our weekly mother-daughter walk without distractions

Giving myself what my body asked for:

- Watermelon 🍉 (I know it's not in season but it was what I craved)

- Made myself some ginger tea (I just boil pieces of ginger and steep)

- Try something different - ate an organic sourdough bread I found at the store when I picked up the 🍉. It was kind of a big deal because I've been gluten free for almost 6 years. Ingredients were simple & clean, I thought if I'm going to eat some store bought bread, this was the one😄 And sourdough is easier to digest.

- Got a good night's sleep - best way to fall asleep is thinking of all the things you're grateful for😴

Life is full of ups and downs so it's important to have some things that help you restore the balance you need to feel good in your body.

Today's society makes us feel productive when we are busy so we tend to keep going even when our bodies might be telling us to slow down.

Yesterday reminded me of the importance to make time to nurture ourselves from time to time.

What do you like to do when you feel out of balance?

Sometimes I get asked whether I work with clients that are looking for support in other areas aside from eczema/topical steroid withdrawal.

The answer is yes but only if I'm certain that I can be of service.

My client was struggling with seizures and they were affecting not only her work but her family life.

With a demanding job and 2 small children, she was in search of a holistic solution to get her seizures under control so she can maintain her career and home life.

When I work with clients that have a family, I make sure that the meal plans incorporate their favorites & are easy for the entire family to adjust to because otherwise, it will be too hard.

2 months after we finished working together, she is still seizure free🙌

Lifestyle changes have a massive impact on your health; thus, quality of life and I'm here to support you if you need help.

Don't delay making changes until it's a lot harder to work towards your goal.

I'm so grateful for the opportunity I had to be of service to her and to see her back in control of her health, thriving in her career & enjoying her time with family🙏❤

Healing the skin is not an easy journey because it's such a bumpy ride but you have some choices in how you deal with the bumps on the road.

Remember that you are not the victim. Even at the lowest moment, you still have choices in how you move forward.

Your skin will flare but that's part of the process. It will get less and less as your body heals.

And don't forget that you are never alone. Help is available. You just need to ask.

👉 I have 2 spots available this month. If you're ready to be in charge of your skin, sign up for a complimentary discovery call from the link below or send me a message.

https://tamaetakahashi.as.me/eczemadiscoverycall

During this call, we will go over your unique situation to come up with a plan that will get you unstuck and help you start making progress towards being eczema free!
