Ways to Reduce the Pressure in Your Bed Sores

You can treat your bed sore by decreasing the amount of friction and pressure that caused it. Strategies include:

• Repositioning. Try turning and changing your position often, depending on the surface you are on and your condition. For instance, wheelchair users need to shift their weight every 15 minutes and to change positions every hour. For those staying only in their beds, change positions every two hours.

•Using support surfaces. Use cushions that help you to sit or lie in ways that protect your skin.
