Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation

Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation Founded by Ali & Joe Torre in 2002 to end the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education. These rooms are staffed by a master’s-level therapist.

By providing resources and support, our young people are able to cope with their trauma and find hope, healing, and empowerment for their futures. Our model is unique because it provides both clinical intervention and prevention services. At our school locations, we establish a safe room – known as Margaret’s Place, named after Joe Torre’s mother. In this setting, we:

-Have group and individual counseling for young people impacted by violence and abuse.
-Hold workshops for teachers to build a safer school environment.
-Hold workshops for parents to make homes and communities stronger.
-Raise awareness on how to prevent violence.
-Empower young people to become advocates and leaders.

Los Angeles — join us on April 23 to support The Next Generation of Change.

As communities across Los Angeles continue to recover and rebuild from a year of challenges, many young people are still finding their footing.

Ali and Joe Torre invite you to join us as we come together in support of The Next Generation of Change—young people who, with the right support, grow from healing to leadership in their schools and communities.

This year, we are proud to honor longtime board member Edward Mady, whose steady leadership and generosity have helped expand access to the safe, supportive spaces that make empowerment and resilience possible.

The evening will close with a special solo performance by John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Students at Hostos Lincoln Academy used their creativity and voices to speak up against bullying. 💛

As part of a schoolwide campaign led by Margaret’s Place Counselor Miss Shereen, middle school students participated in a poster competition, sharing powerful messages about kindness, respect, and standing up for one another.

Their artwork now serves as a reminder throughout the school that the way we treat each other matters. ✨

Creating a safe school environment takes the whole community. ✨

At Hostos Lincoln Academy in the Bronx, Margaret’s Place Counselor Miss Shereen brought together school staff and members of the Safe At Home team for an anti-bullying campaign, inviting them to leave their painted handprints on a hallway poster.

Each handprint represents a shared commitment to kindness, respect, and supporting students every day. 💛

At our Margaret’s Place site at Riverview East Academy in Cincinnati, counselor Miss Jadyn and students used their Teen Dating Vi*lence Awareness campaign to reflect on what makes a relationship healthy.

Together, they shared facts about TDV and built a wall of “bricks,” each one filled with a student’s thoughts on respect, trust, communication, and support.

Piece by piece, they created a reminder that healthy relationships are built with intention. 💛

Teen Dating Vi*lence Awareness Month may have wrapped, but the impact of these conversations continues. 💛

At Little Rock High School in Los Angeles, Miss Raquel and our Margaret’s Place Peer Leaders led their TDV campaign with intention—creating space for honest dialogue about respect, boundaries, and healthy relationships.

When young people lead, their voices carry. We’re proud of this team for stepping up and showing what leadership looks like in real time. ✨

Take a peek inside our Margaret’s Place site at BASE High School in Brooklyn, NY. 💛

Led by Margaret’s Place Counselor Ms. Eliza, this room is a space where students can pause, talk, and feel supported.

Our Margaret’s Place program creates safe space in schools offering both trauma-informed intervention and prevention services. Staffed by a master’s-level counselor, we teach every child about respect, how to care for themselves and each other, and how to support friends in need — so students feel safe and confident at school, and at home. 💛
