This is our patient, Cyril, who had some implant work done over a decade ago. While a lot has changed since then, and there are now ways to speed up treatment, many of the core principles remain the same.

Before embarking on any advanced or long-term treatment plan, we always ensure that oral health is stabilised and that patients can maintain a high standard of care themselves. This is especially important when considering more complex or higher-value treatments.

We also work around each patient’s schedule, aiming to make every visit as efficient and productive as possible. Ongoing monitoring is key, helping to ensure that all work carried out is maintained successfully over the long term.

A big part of this process is building strong relationships. Patients get to know our team, including our hygienist, and feel comfortable returning for regular checkups and maintenance.

If you would like more information about our services, feel free to send me a PM.

Meet Eva Kelly, our resident Dental Hygienist in our Galway clinic in Gort.

Eva joined us in November, and patients have been absolutely delighted with her care. She has received fantastic feedback for her gentle approach, professionalism, and attention to detail.

A graduate of University College Cork, Eva holds a First Class Honours Diploma in Dental Hygiene and was awarded both the TePe Award for highest overall clinical grade in first year and the Colm O’Sullivan Gold Medal for best overall performance across the programme.

Before qualifying as a dental hygienist, Eva completed a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences at the University of Galway, specialising in Microbiology, with research exploring links between oral bacteria and cardiovascular disease.

In this video, Eva demonstrates how to correctly floss your teeth. We recommend flossing at least once a day, it’s a really important part of maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping your gums healthy.

If you’d like to book an appointment with Eva, please give us a call on 091 630731

✨ We’re Looking for a Smile Transformation Patient ✨

Around 15 years ago, I travelled to London to train in no-prep veneers, working with a company called Cerinate in California. At the time, while we achieved lovely results, the process was slow and unpredictable, and the final look often felt too “American” for patients here in the west of Ireland.

Fast forward to today, and everything has changed.

Modern no-prep veneers are now incredibly thin, beautifully natural, and far more precise. With digital scanning, we can send cases instantly to the lab and have results back within 1 to 2 weeks. Most importantly, the results are subtle, natural, and tailored to each individual smile.

Because this is still a relatively new and under-offered treatment in Ireland, we’d love to reintroduce it, and we’re looking for the right person to help us do that.

💫 What we’re offering:
We are offering complimentary no-prep veneer treatment to one suitable candidate.

💫 To apply:
• Send us a photo of your smile
• Tell us a little about what you’d like to improve
• Like and share this post
• Tag a friend who might be interested

📅 We will review all applications at the end of April and select the most suitable candidate.

Please note, this treatment is not suitable for everyone, so selection will be based on clinical suitability rather than random choice.

Anyone not selected will be offered a special discount if we introduce this as a full-time treatment in the future.

If you’re interested, send us a private message with your photo and details, we’d love to hear from you.

🚨 Patient Safety Matters 🚨

The Irish Dental Council has raised serious concerns after an unregistered individual was providing dental treatment, including X-rays, in a Dublin apartment living room.

This highlights a bigger issue, dentists in Ireland are still working under the Dentists Act of 1985, which is completely outdated. For years, the profession has been calling for updated legislation that is already prepared and ready to go, but progress has been slow due to minimal investment and lack of action.

These gaps mean unsafe, unregulated care can continue, putting patients at real risk.

👉 What this means for you:
Always ensure your dentist is fully registered and practising in a regulated clinical environment.

👉 What we all need to do:
Please speak to your local TDs and councillors and put pressure on government to prioritise this change. Patient safety depends on it.

Really grateful to Caroline from My Crazy Life for sharing this with us today.

Sometimes we don’t always see what goes on behind the scenes in the surgery, so getting feedback like this really means a lot.

At the heart of what we do is something very simple, be kind, be considerate, and have empathy. When patients feel understood and cared for, we earn their trust. And when we earn their trust, they feel comfortable to come back and continue their treatment journey.

For many people, visiting the dentist can bring anxiety. Thoughts like, what will they find, will I be judged, I’m embarrassed about my teeth, my gums are bleeding, I haven’t been brushing properly, I’ve been smoking. These worries are far more common than people think.

Our role as dental professionals is to put patients at ease, not to judge. We focus on providing full, comprehensive care, taking the time to talk through what’s needed, and creating a plan that works around each patient’s time and budget.

Step by step, with trust and the right support, real progress can be made.

This is just one example of what can be achieved in our clinic.

I first trained in conscious sedation in dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute in 2006. The course was extremely comprehensive and set a very high standard for safe practice.

Since then I have treated hundreds of patients using conscious sedation, and it continues to be one of the most valuable services we can offer people who feel anxious about dental care. What has always stood out to me is how safe and reliable this technique is when it is carried out properly.

In all the years since my training, I have never had a patient experience any serious complications. That is because we follow strict protocols, remain fully compliant with current guidelines, and prioritise patient safety at every step.

Conscious sedation can be life-changing for patients who struggle with dental treatment. It is particularly helpful for people who have:
• dental anxiety or phobia
• a strong gag reflex
• a lot of treatment to complete in one visit
• difficulty tolerating dental procedures

One thing that surprised me recently is that very little has changed in the core principles of the training since 2006. The standards were already extremely thorough, and the emphasis on safety and patient monitoring remains exactly the same today.

If dental anxiety has been holding you back from getting the treatment you need, conscious sedation may help. You can ring the clinic and speak with Helen, and we will happily arrange an assessment to see if it is the right option for you.
