The MCA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Guy Riekeman, a towering figure in the chiropractic profession for over five decades.

Guy’s visionary leadership, unwavering energy, and commitment to advancing chiropractic education and professional excellence, including his work with Palmer College of Chiropractic and Life University, helped shape and strengthen the global chiropractic community.

On behalf of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association, we acknowledge his significant contribution to the profession and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be very much missed.

This year at conference, we’re excited to offer two three-hour afternoon workshops (Saturday & Sunday) introducing you to Afferentology — a powerful approach that could transform the way you practise.

What is Afferentology?

Afferentology is the study and application of how the sensory nervous system affects muscle tone. By identifying and correcting muscle tone dysfunction, practitioners can achieve predictable, long-lasting changes — tracked objectively over time.

This workshop will show you how to:

✔ Use muscle tone to guide your treatments
✔ Apply coupled adjusting techniques
✔ Perform inguinal release for hip and low back problems
✔ Utilise a cervical disc technique
✔ Integrate muscle testing alongside your current methods

Your Instructor – Patrick Thomas DC

Patrick graduated from AECC in 2010 and initially used a variety of techniques with good results. However, frustration with non-responders and inconsistent outcomes led him to explore new approaches.

In 2016, after attending a workshop led by Simon King, Patrick discovered Afferentology — and it transformed his clinical results. By addressing muscle tone dysfunction through chiropractic adjustments, nutrition and environmental medicine, he began achieving consistent, measurable, long-term outcomes.

Now he’s sharing that knowledge with you.

The MCA Executive was absolutely delighted to join Professor Christina Cunliffe, alongside so many friends and colleagues from across our profession, for a wonderful celebration following her investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, where she was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

On this auspicious occasion, we asked Christina to share her reflections with us on what this momentous and groundbreaking achievement means to her.

Huge congratulations to Professor Christina Cunliffe from all at the MCA!

OBE Investiture! The McTimoney College of Chiropractic is pleased to announce that Professor Christina Cunliffe, Principal of the College, attended her investiture in a ceremony at Windsor Castle yesterday and received her Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, Princess Anne. This high honour was awarded in recognition of her outstanding services to healthcare education, with the last 25 years dedicated to widening access to the education of chiropractors in the UK and around the world.
