💡 Myth Buster

❌ “Self-regulation is a skill children should just learn.”
✅ Truth: Self-regulation grows from co-regulation first.

Children must borrow our calm before they can create their own.
Connection comes before independence—always.

💬 Inside the Playroom

You weren’t just “calming them down.”

You were teaching their brain what safety in connection feels like.🧠

That’s not behavior management.
That’s brain development.

Every regulated moment becomes a reference point a child can return to—again and again.

🧠 Neuroscience Nugget

When a child co-regulates with a safe adult, their nervous system learns something powerful:
I am not alone. I am safe.

Over time, this repeated experience of relational calm literally rewires the brain for emotional safety and self-regulation. 💛

This is why presence matters.
This is why relationship is the intervention.

🧠 Introducing a new CAPT series: The Power of Play

Each month, we’ll explore how neuroscience, play, and relationships support children’s emotional health and development.

This month’s focus ➡️ Regulation & Co-Regulation — how children learn to feel safe in their bodies and emotions through connection with trusted adults.

Through insights from the playroom, neuroscience, and everyday parenting moments, we’ll unpack why calm is contagious and connection is foundational.

Stay with us as we explore the science behind the moments that matter most. 💛
