Our first group of Student Champions made an impressive start by hosting their donor drive in January at Shrewsbury College. With the support of Community Engagement Manager Gemma and Community Relationship Builder Tom, Jake and Lemon showed remarkable confidence in discussing the vital importance of becoming a stem cell donor. They inspired their fellow students to join the stem cell register and are gearing up for their next donor drive this March!

Shrewsbury College stands out as the first institution where we've successfully recruited Champions and Ambassadors. We're eager to expand our impact and are actively working to get students from Dudley and Coventry Colleges involved in our volunteering program in the coming weeks.

Peer-to-peer engagement is a powerful strategy for encouraging students to sign up for the stem cell register, ultimately leading to more sign-ups and lives saved.

We have had a busy week at Coventry College and the two campuses of South and City Birmingham College, delivering The Hero Project.

It was wonderful to educate students from various ethnic backgrounds about the lack of diversity on the stem cell register and the importance of signing up.

Next week, we will return to Coventry College and the South and City Birmingham College campuses at Golden Hillock and Digbeth.

We wanted to express our gratitude to everyone who took part in Dave's quiz evening fundraiser for Race Against Blood Cancer last Saturday. It was such a fun night, and together we raised an incredible £302! 👏🏻

A special thanks to all who donated raffle prizes and to Sports and Social Club for providing the venue. 🫶🏻

In total, Dave has managed to raise a phenomenal £5803 from both of his events. Such a fantastic achievement! 🎉🎉

Today we mark World Cancer Day - let’s all join together in the global effort to raise cancer awareness and help save lives!

We had a fantastic day on Monday at the Alan Higgs Centre, where we delivered ‘The Hero Project’ to sports students from Coventry College for the first time.

The response was overwhelming, with 38 students signing up immediately after the presentations, and several others taking information to share with their families before making a decision. 🫶🏻

The students were engaged, asked questions, and were motivated by The Hero Project to sign up.

We look forward to returning in the new academic year. 😊

What an absolutely fantastic morning we had at the Walton Wobble on Sunday! 🎉🎉🎉

A HUGE shoutout to our incredible charity partners, JC Race Solutions, for raising a staggering £3,600 for Race Against Blood Cancer! We are over the moon with gratitude for this amazing partnership and want to extend a massive thank you to all the entrants who so generously donated. Your support will help us continue our lifesaving mission of finding matches for those battling blood cancer! 🫶🏻

A special highlight of the event was our incredible group of runners who participated in the 5K and 10K challenges to raise awareness for our cause. 🏃🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

We had a great few days with our donor drives at Anytime Gym in Shrewsbury on Monday evening, where we successfully signed up gym members.

We also participated in the Heart of Worcester's Healthy Living Fairs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, engaging with students about the vital importance of becoming stem cell donors and joining the register.

We’re thrilled to share that we'll be introducing The Hero Project at all three of their colleges for the first time later this academic year. We can't wait to educate the students and recruit Ambassadors and Champions to join our volunteer program!

Next week, we will be attending the Health Living Fairs at the three campuses of Heart of Worcester College.

Some of you may be aware that 16-year-old Leo from Bromsgrove has found a stem cell match from a stranger. ❤️

This highlights the importance of becoming a stem cell donor; you never know when you could be someone’s last hope.

If you or your children attend any of these campuses, please encourage them to come along and learn how easy it is to become a potential lifesaver.
