Why do I make my own bone broth for my dogs?
There’s quite a few reasons, firstly it’s a rich source of collagen vital for health, secondly it’s got no onion which most human grade has and thirdly is cheap to make. Just throw a heap of bones in the crock pot with some Apple cider vinegar which helps draw out the nutrients, boil and then simmer for 24 hours. Pour liquid through a strainer and throw all the bones in the bin. Refrigerate then scrape the fat layer off the top and there you have a powerful broth packed with goodness.
*rich in amino acids like glycine and proline
*supports joint health , mobility, skin elasticity and a shiny coat
*rich in glucosamine, chondroitin and hyaluronic acid which helps maintain healthy joints and reduce inflammation.
*contains gelatin which helps heal the gut lining which makes it beneficial for dogs with diarrhoea or leaky gut.
*enhances skin hydration, reduces itchiness and promotes a stronger shinier coat.
Tastes awesome, the dogs love it.
I give them a dessert spoon with their fruits fibre and probiotics for breakfast.

A recent clinical trial explored how peppermint, rose, and lavender EOs influence stress recovery and brain function in university students. Researchers used EEG recordings to monitor brain activity and self-reported questionnaires to evaluate stress levels. Following inhalation of the oils, participants reported improved mood across all three aromas.

EEG results showed a reduction in overall brain power after exposure, which is associated with a more relaxed neural state. Brain wave patterns also returned to baseline comfort levels more rapidly, indicating enhanced recovery from stress. The findings further suggested that the oils supported the brain’s self-organized criticality, reflecting more efficient use of neural resources.

Among the oils tested, peppermint demonstrated the strongest effect in optimizing the brain’s balance between order and disorder. Rose and lavender, on the other hand, produced more favorable changes in brain avalanche activity—bursts of coordinated neural firing that cascade through brain networks—particularly in female participants. Improvements in functional connectivity were also observed, including higher clustering coefficients, greater global and local efficiency, and shorter path lengths, all of which point to enhanced communication across brain networks.

Did you know one of the most stubborn bacteria linked to urinary tract infections and cystic fibrosis is Pseudomonas aeruginosa? This dark-pigment–producing microbe is incredibly resilient. It can withstand attacks from the body’s own defenses and often develops resistance to antibiotics—making infections difficult to treat and slow to resolve.

That’s why this research caught my attention. A study looked at seven essential oils—clove bud, cinnamon bark, davana, thyme, fennel, garlic, and palmarosa—to see how they performed against P. aeruginosa. The standout oils? Cinnamon, garlic, and thyme.

These three demonstrated significant activity against the bacteria, including drug-resistant strains. Even more compelling, they didn’t just inhibit growth—they reduced the bacteria’s virulence (its ability to cause harm) and made it more susceptible to antibiotics.

In other words, they helped weaken a very tough opponent. This highlights their potential role as supportive tools—especially when we’re facing microbes that are increasingly resistant to conventional therapies.

Love Copaiba, I put a few drops under my tongue, it mimics cannabis, has no thc so no legal ramifications, sourced from the Amazon

A preclinical model of arthritis and systemic inflammation found that oral administration of copaiba in a self-nanoemulsifying remedy delivery system effectively reduced arthritis, systemic inflammation and oxidative stress. Subjects received a human equivalent dose of about 22 drops, which produced the desired results at a dose four times lower than free copaiba essential oil and isolated beta-caryophyllene. This research highlights the potential of nanoemulsified copaiba as a natural therapy for arthritis and inflammation, offering a promising avenue for safer, more efficient treatment options in humans.

Support healthy skin, calm emotions, and natural protection for your animals with one beautifully versatile oil… Geranium.

Geranium essential oil (Pelargonium graveolens) is best known for its role in high-end skincare and perfumes, but don’t let its floral reputation fool you - this oil is incredibly practical in animal care.

It’s one of my favorite multi-taskers for:

🌿 Promoting clear, healthy skin
🦟 Naturally repelling mites and ticks
🩸 Supporting blood clotting on minor wounds
😌 Calming nerves and reducing stress
💛 Liver support
⚖️ Hormone balancing
💧 Urinary tract support
🛡 Immune support

Geranium is both grounding and uplifting at the same time, making it helpful for animals who are tense, stressed, itchy, or dealing with skin challenges.

🐾 HOW TO USE GERANIUM WITH ANIMALS:

For Dogs 🐕
Topical use: Dilute to 1–3% and apply 1–2 drops of diluted oil to areas of concern or along the spine.
Aromatic use: Add 2–3 drops to a water-based diffuser for a calming environment

For Horses, Cows, Goats 🐎🐄🐐
Topical use: Apply 4–6 drops along the spine or directly to the area of concern. Can be used diluted to cover a larger area.
Aromatic use: Let them smell directly from your hands or apply to halter or lead rope.

For Cats 🐈

Researchers explored why patchouli EO has long been associated with emotional balance and uncovered specific compounds that help explain its effects. In this study, scientists isolated several naturally occurring sesquiterpenes from patchouli oil and found that a small group—especially one compound called 7-epi-chabrolidione A—protected brain cells from stress-related damage, reduced excessive calcium buildup, and prevented stress-induced cell death. Even more compelling, this compound activated the CaMKII–CREB–BDNF pathway, a core brain signaling system involved in mood regulation, resilience, learning, and memory.

When tested in a preclinical model commonly used to study depression-like behavior, the compound improved movement and cognitive responses linked to low mood. Together, these findings help connect traditional uses of patchouli with modern neuroscience, suggesting that specific components of patchouli oil may support brain health and emotional resilience by nurturing the same pathways known to be disrupted in depression—while highlighting the need for future human studies to confirm real-world applications.

A recent preclinical model found that lime EO provides strong protective support for the liver and kidneys during methotrexate treatment—a drug known for organ toxicity. Oral administration of the EO helped preserve liver and kidney structure and function, reduced oxidative and inflammatory damage, protected mitochondrial health, and significantly lowered markers of cell death. Mechanistically, the oil supported the body’s natural detox and antioxidant defenses by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway while calming inflammatory signaling through JAK2/STAT3/NF-κB, pathways closely linked to drug-induced tissue injury. Overall, the findings suggest lime EO may serve as a promising natural, complementary approach to protecting organs under toxic stress, warranting further clinical exploration.

Research published in PLOS One outlines growing evidence for the use of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) EO as a supportive therapy for pain and anxiety in hospital settings. The literature shows that chamomile is most commonly used through inhalation aromatherapy, where it consistently helped reduce anxiety and provided mild but meaningful pain relief, particularly after surgery and during cardiac care. Studies also noted calming effects on heart rate and blood pressure, with no significant adverse events reported, highlighting chamomile’s strong safety profile. Overall, German chamomile aromatherapy is described as a gentle, low-risk, and effective complement to conventional medical care that supports more human-centered healing.

Parents of children with disabilities report greater stress due to a heavier caregiver burden, stigmatization, and increased expenses related to specialized care.

A clinical trial evaluated the benefits of inhaling lemon and lemongrass (C. citratus) EO among parents of children with intellectual disabilities. Study participants were divided into four groups that inhaled lemon, lemongrass, a blend of the two essential oils, or a placebo (sweet almond oil) three times daily for eight weeks. All three aromatherapy groups experienced reduced stress, better sleep, and improved emotions when compared to the placebo group. Heart rate and systolic blood pressure also diminished in all three essential oil groups. This suggests that aromatherapy is a noninvasive and effective way to improve quality of life for caregivers of children with disabilities.
