For years my brand partner Shaklee has recommended protein as a main building block to support your health and wellness.

🌿In fact, in 1961 Dr. Shaklee launched Instant Protein, the first ever plant based protein powder in the world, because he wanted people to easily have a way to start their day with high quality, lean protein.

🌿Fast forward to 2026, and now Shaklee has a big variety of clean protein products to help us hit our daily protein goals.

🌿Protein recommendations have increased by 50% to 100%. The old guideline was just the minimum to avoid deficiency. Today, protein is about supporting energy, muscle, metabolism, and healthy aging.

🌿The new recommendations are what Shaklee has been suggesting for years - that we are to consume up to 0.80 g of protein per pound of body weight per day. That’s way more than a typical person eats. Eat your veggies!! This roasted veggie recipe makes that easy and tasty. 😋

Garlic Herb Roasted Potatoes, Carrots, and Zucchini 🧄🥕🥔🥒

4 cups potatoes, diced
2 cups carrots, sliced
2 cups zucchini, sliced
2-3 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp of any dried herbs you like (rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, parsley)
Salt and pepper to taste

•Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). •Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
•In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, carrots, zucchini, olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
•Spread the vegetables in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
•Roast for 25-30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and golden brown, stirring halfway through.
•Serve warm and enjoy

🥗Honeynut Squash & Quinoa Salad with Apple Cider Vinaigrette🥗

You guys, this salad is so good it’s my new FAVORITE!! 😋

TIPS:
🌱 Use whatever kind of greens you like. I wanted a variety so used arugula, spinach, and green leaf lettuce.

🌱 The dressing recipe makes extra which is great to save for later.

🌱 Make double the amount of quinoa so that it’s super fast to use again soon.

🌱 Be creative! I made it again the next day with a few modifications since the squash was gone. Instead I substituted avocado and feta, along with the greens, quinoa, pomegranate, and dressing. Was delicious!

10,000 steps a day used to be the rule for the number of steps you should take to get optimal benefits from walking. That has changed. Here’s what we now know:

🚶 4,000–5,000 steps/day already lowers your risk of early death and chronic disease compared to very low activity. (JAMA Network Open, 2023)

💖 6,000–7,000 steps/day is linked to a 40–50% lower risk of premature death in midlife and older women. (JAMA Internal Medicine, 2021)

🧠 Benefits keep going up until around 8,000–9,000 steps/day, then level off — so you don’t need to chase 10,000 unless you enjoy it. (JAMA Network Open, 2019)

🔑 The biggest health boost comes from simply adding more steps than you do now. Even +1,000 steps/day can make a measurable difference! (American College of Cardiology, 2023)

✨ Bottom line: For women over 40, aiming for 6,000–8,000 steps/day is realistic, doable, and backed by science. Every step counts toward better heart health, stronger bones, balanced hormones, and a sharper mind. 💪🧡
