If you haven’t had the chance to meet our new practitioner, Acupuncturist Vicky, lets get to know her a little more.

When she’s not caring for patients with acupuncture, Vicky is off adventuring on caravan holidays with her husband and three children — here’s a snap from their recent getaway to Cape Patterson.

She also has a beloved “fourth furry child,” Mittens the cat, who keeps the whole family entertained.

And in the rare spare moments she gets (is that even possible with three kids and working?), Vicky creates beautiful knitted and crocheted pieces. Swipe through to see her latest crochet lap-rug project.

Vicky is available on Monday & Thursday afternoons. If you would like to make an appointment please contact Reception on (03) 9571 7498.

Hey MIOG Community,

We are very excited to introduce our latest addition to the MIOG Practitioner team – Acupuncturist Vicky!

Vicky Lee has over 30 years’ experience as an allied health clinician, she is registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), as
both an osteopath and as an acupuncturist.

Completing her Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy) degree in 1994, Vicky has worked in private clinical practice and as a lecturer in osteopathic education at both Victoria University and RMIT.

During 2015, Vicky’s personal experience of receiving acupuncture during breast cancer treatment, lead her towards training as an acupuncturist.
Completing her Master of Applied Science (Acupuncture) degree in 2019, she began work as acupuncturist eager to assist clients undergoing cancer treatment.

Vicky understands firsthand the challenges of cancer survivorship and offers a supportive and compassionate treatment, specifically tailored to your
symptoms.

Interesting fact: Vicky loves a good caravan holiday with her husband and three children, enjoys exercises regularly with Pilates and Filipino martial arts and has a creative side – she creates masterpieces through knitting and crocheting!

We look forward to welcoming Vicky to MIOG in December. She will be available for consultations on Monday and Thursday afternoons commencing Thursday 4 December.

If you would like to have a consultation with Vicky please give Reception a call on (03) 9571 7498.

Note - Clients with Extras cover may be entitled to rebates from their health insurance fund when receiving treatment.

Local garlic or imported garlic? 🧄It’s worth a closer look…

Methyl Bromide — a chemical banned in Australia since 2005 due to environmental harm and potential health concerns — can still be used under quarantine exemptions. One key area? The fumigation of imported garlic to prevent pests and pathogens from entering the country.

That means all garlic brought into Australia from overseas must be treated with Methyl Bromide. So it begs the question: how much are we unknowingly consuming, whether in whole bulbs or processed garlic products? 🧐

Whenever possible, we encourage choosing locally grown garlic — from farmers’ markets, independent greengrocers, and small producers. Always take a moment to check the country of origin on the display tag or ask the seller directly.

Knowing where your food comes from is a simple step that can support both your health and local growers.

Practitioner Shannon shows off the garlic she’s been growing — “they’re nearly ready!” 😀

What’s in a simple cup of tea?

At MIOG, it’s more than a warm drink.

It’s a moment to pause before an appointment… to gather your thoughts, settle your breath, or reflect on the questions you want to ask.

It’s a chance to reconnect with yourself, or share a few gentle words with someone on a similar journey in the waiting room.

It’s time to rehydrate after a busy morning or an infrared sauna session, and a small comfort in a space designed to feel safe and calm.

It’s also a place for loved ones — a welcoming seat and a warm mug while they wait and support you.

Our waiting area is open to all, and our teas are proudly sourced from local Victorian supplier, Yarra Valley Tea Co.

Today is World Pancreatic Cancer Day, part of World Pancreatic Cancer Month.

All cancer diagnoses bring immense challenges, but pancreatic cancer is particularly tough. Diagnosis often comes late, survival rates remain heartbreakingly low, and awareness is still far too limited. This must change.

At MIOG, we are honoured to support patients living with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis through integrative oncology care. Today, we’ve lit our Hyperbaric Chambers purple to stand in solidarity with patients, families, and the global community working toward better outcomes.

And a small meaningful detail: in colour therapy, purple is associated with easing inflammation — a fitting symbol as our chambers glow in support today.

Well, that was a bit like taking family photos — someone’s looking the wrong way, another has their eyes closed, and there’s always one pulling a face! 🤣

We’re confident the final photos will turn out beautifully though.

It’s been a few years since our last group photo, but this morning most of the MIOG team gathered for some new shots. As our team members work on different days, it’s rare that we’re all together — so it was lovely to have everyone in one place.

A wonderful reminder, too, of what a capable, strong, intelligent, and empathetic group of women the MIOG team truly is. 🥰

Stay tuned — new photos of your Practitioners and Reception team coming soon!

As recently announced, new parking restrictions have now come into effect outside the Clinic on South Road.

There is a 2-hour parking limit from 9am–5pm, Monday to Saturday.
For most patients, this won’t cause any concern, as standard appointments are under an hour and Hyperbaric sessions run for up to 80 minutes. However, if you have multiple appointments in a row or expect to be with us for longer than two hours, we recommend using the rear car park, accessible via Scanlon Street.

We’re not yet sure how closely these new restrictions will be monitored, but best to plan ahead — just in case!

To celebrate a recent team birthday, we decided a communal lunch was in order!
If you’ve been following along, you’ll know there have been quite a few delicious birthday cakes at MIOG lately 🍰

With a busy day in Clinic, takeaway was the way to go — but it had to be healthy, tasty, and time-efficient.
(No fried chicken or burgers for this crew!)

We opted for locally made Vietnamese food — fresh salads, protein (tofu and egg in these photos), noodles and rice.
Delicious takeaway, reimagined.

What are your favourite healthy takeaway options?
