❄️ Storm Day Reminder from Your Spine’s Biggest Fan ❄️
Snow shovelling might look harmless… but every year we see too many back injuries that could have been prevented with a few simple habits. Let’s keep you strong, mobile, and pain-free this winter 💪
Here’s your quick Snow-Smart Checklist:
🔥 Warm up first (yes, really!)
Take 5–10 minutes for a brisk walk or march in place. Cold, stiff muscles are far more likely to get injured.
🌨️ Don’t let it pile up
Frequent shovelling = lighter loads = happier back.
🛷 Pick the right shovel
Use a lightweight push shovel whenever possible. Bonus tip: spraying your shovel with Teflon or silicone spray helps snow slide off, reducing effort and strain.
➡️ Push, don’t throw
Pushing snow is much safer than lifting and twisting. Your spine will thank you.
🏋️ If you must lift, use your legs
Bend your knees, keep your back straight, and lift with your powerful leg muscles—not your back.
⏸️ Take breaks
Fatigue leads to poor form. Rest, shake out your arms, and reset.
🧥 Dress in layers & stay hydrated
Your body is still working hard—even in the cold.
🐢 Slow and steady wins
Pain is a warning sign. Stop if something doesn’t feel right.
🧘 Cool down after
A short walk and gentle stretching helps prevent stiffness later.
Remember: The goal isn’t just a clear driveway — it’s a healthy spine all winter long.
If the storm gets the better of you, we’re here to help. Stay safe, stay warm, and shovel smart! ❄️
