Meet the Senior Link Board Members!

Every week, you’ll meet a member of the Senior Link Board of Directors!

Starting with our Board President, Dr. Romi!

Dr. Romi is a Naturopathic Doctor with a focus on dementia prevention and optimizing cognitive health. He brings to Senior Link his expertise in aging and health and wellness.

Dr. Romi is currently a PhD Candidate in Aging and Health from Queen’s University, researching about dementia screening. Did you know? His PhD Candidacy exam consisted of a literature review about how the impacts of the COVID-19 lockdown affected the cognitive and physical well-being of seniors in long-term care. There is such a huge connection between interaction and brain health, and Dr. Romi is at the forefront of bringing that to our community and Senior Link!

A few things that Dr. Romi loves: Dr. Romi loves to teach and educate his patients, fellow doctors and the general public about brain health. He does a lot of health talks at the Richmond Community Centres and at the Richmond Public Library. (Fun fact: Dr. Romi has a Fan Club consisting of the cutest grannies and you’ll be able to identify them as they sit at the front of every single talk!)

Another thing that Dr. Romi loves: Traveling to Japan! Dr. Romi has travelled to Japan 3 times in the last 2 years (and going on 4 in September!) and loves to collect pins from whereever he goes. He collects his pins on a scarf from Volunteer Richmond (Now Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives) from the Winterfest 2009 Event! What Dr. Romi plans to do with the scarf is to go through all the pins and remember the best memories of his travels and experiences as a way to remember and work his memory.

Fun Fact about Dr. Romi: He has the NEATEST Un-doctor-like writing. When he was an intern, he had to chart on blank paper. Despite having no aids to write with, Dr. Romi would write straight across the blank paper as though he was a printer! He even failed on his charting skills because his supervisor thought his writing was too neat and small!!

Stay tuned for next week where you’ll meet another Board Member from the Senior Link Society!
