GLP-1 drugs are quickly becoming some of the most ubiquitous in the U.S., and they have drawn interest for their potential use in treating alcohol use disorder.

Despite overdose deaths hovering around all-time highs, VC's remain largely uninterested. While there are 3 "treatments" for opioid addiction: methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, they come with their own set of side affects and a stigma which many in recovery won't endorse or embrace as being truly in "recovery" or "clean". How about a cure? It's out there, waiting to be developed! Funds are needed to find it.

A report suggests that, even though U.S. addiction deaths are hovering around their all-time high, drug companies and the investors who back them are unlikely to provide solutions anytime soon.
