A Moment of Loving-Kindness 💗
This week, I invite you into a simple and nourishing practice called Loving-Kindness (Metta) Meditation. This practice helps cultivate compassion and ease by offering kind wishes—to ourselves, to those we love, and to all beings. With regular practice, Metta can help reduce stress, soften the mind, and deepen our sense of connection.

Settle In
Find a comfortable seat, either in a chair or on a cushion, with your spine upright and relaxed. Close your eyes or soften your gaze. Take a few slow, deep breaths—breathing in calm and breathing out tension.

Begin with Yourself
Silently repeat the following phrases, letting them land gently:

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe.

May I live with ease.

A Loved One
Bring to mind someone you care for—someone who naturally opens your heart.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe.

May you live with ease.

All Beings
Now expand your awareness outward—to your community, the wider world, and all beings everywhere.

May all beings be happy.

May all beings be healthy.

May all beings be safe.

May all beings live with ease.

Closing
Take a few final breaths and notice how you feel. When you’re ready, gently open your eyes and carry this sense of kindness with you into the rest of your day.

Hello yoga community,

Classes resume next week as we return to our regular schedule.

After the holidays, it’s common to feel a bit disconnected from ourselves and our routines so for the next two weeks, our theme will be a gentle, grounding practice with a focus on breath, anchoring to the earth through the feet, and reconnecting to the core.

This time together is an invitation to come back into your body and experience the practice as a soft return home.

A gentle reminder that classes will be on pause for another two weeks, and we’ll resume together on January 19th. In the meantime, you’re welcome to continue your practice with classes on my YouTube channel.

In yoga, active mobility is when your muscles do the work—lifting, holding, and moving you into a stretch with control. Passive mobility is when something else helps you go deeper—gravity, a strap, or a another body part. Both have benefits, but lots of passive stretching without strength can create that “bendy but wobbly” feeling.

Over November we focused on active mobility to strengthen the muscles around our joints. In December we leaned more into flexibility, and my hope is that you started to notice a greater range of motion—and maybe a little extra space and ease in your hips and shoulders.

As we wrap up the year, we still have two more days of classes, including a livestream session, so I hope you’ll join me for these final practices of 2025.

🌿 Join Me for Chair Yoga This Wednesday Nov 26th! 🌿

This week’s class is a full-body stretch designed to gently open the shoulders, spine, and hips in all directions. I’m even adding eye stretches to finish the class feeling refreshed from head to toe.

I’d love to see some family and friends from Ontario join in! My local group has experienced so many benefits over the years, and I want to share those same positive changes with a wider community. Here are just a few things I’ve heard:

✨ “I can reach my toes again to paint my nails.”
✨ “My COPD is improving”
✨ “I’ve had fewer atrial fibrillations since starting yoga.”
✨ “I can put my wetsuit on by myself again.”

I’ve had many requests from my snowbird yogis to offer online classes—and it’s finally happening! I kept waiting for the “perfect” timing, but really, what’s more important than feeling great and keeping our bodies moving?

So, let’s give it a go together with a 6-week online Chair Yoga trial! Each 60-minute class will be streamed live on YouTube and will follow the same sequences as the ones I teach at the PH Community Hall and Sarah Wray Hall.

Can’t make it live? No problem! Each class will be saved on my YouTube channel so you can practice anytime, anywhere.

Hello Yoga Community,

October was all about finding length and stability. We focused on stretching the hip flexors through gentle lunges and pelvic tilts, and strengthened our lateral core with side crunches and lateral exercises—all to support an upright, heart-lifting posture and a happy spine in every direction.

As we move into November, our theme shifts to dynamic movement. With more time spent indoors and the cool, windy nature of fall around us, this month’s sequences will build warmth from within. Expect practices that generate internal heat, grounded energy, and a sense of rooted steadiness to carry you through the season.

Let’s keep the energy flowing — hope to see your smiling faces in class soon!

Hello Yoga Community,

✨ Heads up: No Hatha or Chair Yoga on Monday, October 13th — we’ll all be too busy giving thanks (and possibly regretting that third slice of pie).

Lately in class we’ve been talking about how important upper back strength is for spinal mobility. The muscles between your shoulder blades and along your upper spine are like the unsung heroes keeping you upright. They help counteract all that forward rounding we do while gardening, driving, knitting, golfing, reading, cooking… basically being human.

Simple moves like scapular push-ups or gently pressing your head into interlaced hands can wake up those muscles. Pair that with some strap stretches overhead to open up the chest, and suddenly your shoulders and neck remember they can actually move in more than one direction. Bonus: it feels amazing.

The truth is — the better we feel in our bodies, the calmer our minds, and the more at peace our spirits.
