It has been a little while since we've had to deal with vandalism on site at Hawbush, but this week someone came well prepared, broke into a secure container and stole valuable tools and equipment. Please support our friends and colleagues if you can, to help them replace much needed equipment and secure the site from future theft and vandalism. Importantly let us know if you hear anything or see sales of bulk gardening and outdoor equipment locally, so we can inform the police. Onwards and upwards!
We’re absolutely gutted to announce that we’ve had a break-in overnight.
Thieves broke into our onsite container and stole over £4,000 worth of tools and equipment.
We won’t let this stop us — but we’re asking our neighbours and wider community to please stay alert. If you see anyone suddenly in possession of, or trying to sell, large amounts of gardening equipment (including hedge strimmers or high-quality lawn mowers), please let us know.
We've set up a fundraiser to try and recoup some of the costs of replacing equipment, as well as to sure up the security on the gardens. https://gofund.me/584e6a92c
If you see or hear any unusual activity on the gardens between 9pm and 8am, please report it — either to us on 07763 617576 or directly to the police.
Thank you for standing with us. The garden belongs to the whole community and we will rebuild it together. 💚
