“I did feel you there with me today. It felt like you were just in the room with me watching over me. Constantly reminding me that things take time, including getting my heart all the way back to You. You reminded me in many moments of mixed and changing moods, energy levels, and optimism. You reminded me that it is always just a season. Whatever I am going through at any point in my life is always just a season of life that will soon pass. That is how You teach us faith in You, God. You change all that is around us, You take away, You add, and You reveal yourself in different ways in order to remind us that You are always there fighting for a relationship with us, even when we don’t fight back. You remind us that you are always with us. And that right there is the only thing you can promise to us won’t ever change in our lives. So thank you for that reminder today, God. It was noticed and appreciated today.” - part of letter I wrote to God last night
Seasons of life come and go. Each teaching a different lesson, source of joy, and sense of sorrow. But each always worth it because at the end of the day I must remember that each day, moment, and breath is a gift from God

I was originally going to post this picture with a sarcastic self-deprecating comment about me “being trash” but then at the gym today I had sudden moment of realization. As saw those around me, I realized that tomorrow is truly not promised. When you tell yourself “tomorrow is not promised”, it is easy to think that “tomorrow” is not literally tomorrow, but some day in the future. But tomorrow is truly not promised. Our next moment or our next breathe is truly not promised. “Tomorrow” is not the true gift, but each moment is. It is a continual gift.
Thinking and worrying about the next moment or tomorrow does not take away future anxieties, but steals the gift and the strength of the present. Just as each moment is a gift, you must not forget that you still have to open and accept a gift in order for it to be received. Have your heart and mind open to receiving the gifts of each moment- gift(s) because within the gift of each moment is where all the other gifts of life are held ready to be opened by you. When you open your eyes to the present, you realize all that is in reach. One day, one moment, one breathe at a time. Ready to open, accept, and receive the God-given gift(s) of each moment
As NEEDTOBREATHE says, “there’s no gift like the present tense.” - The Heart, NEEDTOBREATHE

“Just do your best each day, but remember that your best looks different each day”
A patient last week recommended that I read the book “The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. The read was short, but incredibly impactful on my life this week
1: Be Impeccable With Your Word
He believes this is the most difficult one to honor. Being impeccable with language means to take responsibility for your actions and remain without judgment against oneself and others. It focuses on the significance of speaking with integrity and carefully choosing words before saying them aloud
2: Don't Take Anything Personally
This provides a way to deal with hurtful treatment from others. The importance of having a strong sense of self and not needing to rely on the opinions of others in order to be content and satisfied with their self-image. Understanding that each individual has a unique worldview that alters their own perceptions, and that the actions and beliefs of a person is a projection of their own personal reality. He believes that anger, jealousy, envy, and even sadness can lessen/dissipate
3: Don’t Make Assumptions
This describes the issue of making assumptions and how it leads to suffering. When one assumes what others are thinking, it can create stress and interpersonal conflict because the person believes their assumption is a representation of the truth. He believes a way to overcoming making assumptions is to ask questions and ensure that the communication is clear. You can avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama by not making assumptions
4: Always Do Your Best
This allows readers to have better insight on achieving progress towards their goals in life. It involves doing the best that one can individually manage, which varies from the different situations and circumstances that the individual may encounter. If you avoid self judgment and do your best in every given moment, you will be able to avoid regret. By doing the best you can in all facets of life, you will be able to live a life free from sorrow and self-ridicule
Show up, be present, treat others how you want to be treated, and do your best in each moment - all that you can ask of yourself 🙂

“Everyday that you learn something is a good day, but you have to be willing to learn” - Ron, my patient today
The best part of being on clinical is how much I learn from my patients each day. Everyday I ask each patient for small token of wisdom then make sure to right it down immediately so I don’t forget.
I just finished “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie and one of his best reminders is that you should always know that each person knows something you do not and that there is something to learn from each person you meet.
Age is but a number, and it does not correlate directly to wisdom. Everyone has had a different life experience so each person has a different token of wisdom to give. I love listening to people tell there stories because each story has wisdom within, you just have to be open to hearing it!!
In the past week I’ve treated ages 12 to 78, and I’ve learned something each patient. I am not perfect, never will be, and I love to think about how much I have to learn ahead of me. Being open to learning is the first step, listening to understand and not to respond in the second, remembering it is the third, and implementing is the fourth.
Everyday I thank God for the opportunities that I have to learn and for the people in my life because they make me a better person each day. I wouldn’t be who I am without the people God puts into my life and for that I appreciate Him and them more than they can understand

“Cause You stepped into my Egypt
And You took me by the hand
You marched me out in freedom
Into the promised land
And now I will not forget You, God
I'll sing of all You've done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love”
-Egypt, Bethel Music

Discussion does not equal argument 🔸
We live in such a fleeting culture where on our various media platforms we can always run from those who disagree with our opinions and find ones who agree. Its healthy for two people to talk about various subjects, and if they’re not in agreement, that’s okay, it’s just discussing it. You don’t always have to be trying to prove a point, defend yourself, or be correct.
Sometimes having conversation is just for the sake of learning something new
Living in an echo chamber is no fun. Discussing things and learning more about both the other person, a subject, and yourself is a good thing. As Ernest Hemingway said, “learn to actually listen, few people actually do it.”
It’s just life, you can talk things out about it. It’s fun
