Navigating IVF is overwhelming enough — you shouldn’t have to decode mixed info about acupuncture and how it can support IVF.

Here’s what the current research says:

✨ consistency matters (treatment frequency)
✨ timing matters (IVF prep + during IVF < during IVF)
✨ acupuncture improves uterine blood flow, regulates the nervous system/stress and creates a more receptive environment for implantation.
✨ male-factor support is often overlooked but just as important. Gets your partners on board

Low AMH isn’t a fertility death sentence, but it is an important guide.

AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) is produced by granulosa cells, the cells that surround and nurture developing follicles in your ovaries.

It reflects how many follicles are active this cycle, offering a snapshot of current ovarian activity, not overall fertility or egg quality.

AMH levels can fluctuate slightly with hormonal suppression (like birth control), inflammation, stress, nutrition, and natural age-related changes.
It’s best viewed as part of your fertility overview rather than a verdict on your ability to conceive.

That said, age and AMH together can help guide conversations about planning and timelines. If you’re over 35 and have a lower AMH, it’s worth discussing your options sooner — whether that’s optimizing your fertility naturally, exploring egg freezing, or preparing for assisted cycles.

Egg quality and the environment in which eggs mature (blood flow, metabolic health, oxidative stress) often matter more than the number itself. That’s where lifestyle, nutrition, and acupuncture can make a meaningful difference — supporting the ovarian environment, your overall health and improving the conditions for conception.

Acupuncture 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 dosage 👏🏼 based 👏🏼 treatment 👏🏼 - just like any other medicine.

You wouldn’t take a single dose of antibiotics or do one workout and expect results. Acupuncture works the same way.

Acupuncture is cumulative. 📶 The results build over time and consistency — not from one-off sessions.

It’s important to stick to your treatment plan and attend your appointments regularly. Initially we front load with treatment frequency to build momentum and reduce symptoms. As you progress towards your health goals we begin to spread out treatments.

Each persons healing timeline is different, but in general you will likely see positive changes in around 3-4 treatments.

Treatment frequency:
▫️ 2x/week — for acute concerns or time-sensitive goals (like an injury, pain, breech turning or pre-transfer prep)

▫️ 1x/week — for steady progress (fertility, hormones, pregnancy support, digestive support and emotional health)

▫️ Every 2–4 weeks — for maintenance and prevention once you’re feeling better.

▫️ Menstrual/ hormonal related issues - ~3 cycles
Let’s make your treatments work with your body, and find the right rhythm for your goals.

Bottom line, consistency is key!

More fertility specialists are recommending the integration of acupuncture with IVF, recognizing its potential to improve implantation rates, reduce stress, and support overall treatment outcomes. 🌱

1️⃣ Pre-stimulation phase (~3 months prior):
This is a foundational phase where we focus on optimizing egg and s***m quality, cycle regulation, managing inflammation, and uterine lining prep.

2️⃣ Embryo Transfer Day:
Acupuncture is often used on ET day to help your body shift into a receptive state—enhancing blood flow to the uterus, calming the nervous system, and creating the ideal environment for implantation.

3️⃣ 3–5 Days Post-ET:
In this window, implantation is underway. Acupuncture can support endometrial receptivity, balance hormones, and reduce uterine contractions—creating a stable environment for implantation. It also helps calm the nervous system and ease anxiety during the emotional two-week wait.

4️⃣ Early Pregnancy Support:
Support in the early weeks matters—especially after IVF. Acupuncture helps maintain hormonal balance, improve uterine blood flow, and regulate the stress response—factors that contribute to a stable early gestational environment.

From preparation to early pregnancy, we’re here to support you—every step of the way. 📞 Book a discovery call or appointment today!

Don’t get me wrong, Smoothies rock for packing in a bunch of nutrients dense foods into a convenient grab and go snack or meal, but they aren’t for everyone.

In TCM, consuming cold foods can cool the uterus and weaken the spleen’s Qi, potentially affecting fertility.

Symptoms of spleen Qi deficiency may include fatigue, bloating, and a feeling of heaviness.

Symptoms of a cold uterus are painful, dark , clotty periods, cold hands, abdomen and feet, low back pain.

That said —you don’t have to give up your beloved smoothies! Just warm them up a bit.

🍓Use room-temperature fruits and vegetables.

🔥 Add warming ingredients like ginger or cinnamon.

🍹Limit smoothie consumption to a few times per week instead of daily - if this is how you get a dose of protein every day , consider a very simple (protein + banana) option.

Want my fave “warm” smoothie recipe? Comment or DM smoothie and I will send it your way

Hands up you are done with this cold weather Calgary! 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️
Its been a frigid couple of weeks, and rumour has it, we are not in the clear just yet. Here is a quick look at how we can choose to what eat in conjunction with the climate, to balance our internal state, support our health and boost our immune systems resiliency during extreme temperature changes. 🥶 .
Traditional medicine is deeply rooted in the concept of finding balance in ones daily life to achieve optimal health. This carries over into nutrition as well. ⏩
As a general rule, we should try to eat what is local, and what is in season. Eat warm foods (onions, garlic, ginger, meats, grains, root vegetables) when its cold, eat cold foods (fresh fruits & vegetables) when its hot and eat moistening foods (melons, fruits, celery) when its dry.... hmm funny how nature provides us exactly what we need to achieve balance at the RIGHT times. 😉 .
So! During these cold months! Aim to ramp up your warming food intake. Most of these “warming” foods not only warm you up, but contain compounds that strengthen your immune system, keeping you strong and resilient to those common colds and flus that attack everyone at the office during sudden temperature changes! 💪🏼 .
Warming foods : ginger, garlic, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, chili peppers, onion, sweet potato, squash, turnips, shrimp, lamb, beef, walnuts, dates, pine nuts, sunflower seeds. .
✌🏼 stay warm friends
