People First of Canada is unique. All our Board Members are people who are labelled with an intellectual or developmental disability.

This matters – it means that only the people directly affected decide what issues we work on. We decide what is important. We decide how and when to speak out.

PFC Board Members lead the movement, shape the agenda, and make the decisions.

This is what real inclusion looks like!

“The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all, but the most difficult to play.” — Richard Strauss
For many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, finding their voice is a journey. Sometimes it begins with a whisper. Sometimes it begins with the question “What do you think?”
For People First members, the microphone has been more than a piece of equipment. It has been a doorway, a tool for courage, and a symbol of leadership.
Every voice deserves to be heard!
