Creative Recovery

Creative Recovery People are at the heart of what we do. We use a person-centred approach to create safe spaces, where people can flourish.

Creative Recovery is a people-led charity that uses creativity to support recovery, boost wellbeing and bring about social change in Barnsley. We work with individuals and families with experience of mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues. Creative Recovery is a small grassroots charity, driven by a community of people with lived experience of using creativity to support their own health and wellbeing and to make positive change. We draw on a collective of artists and practitioners with broad and extensive experience of working across arts/culture/health and wellbeing. We are also keen collaborators, and enjoy working with partners that share our values, passion and who aren't afraid to try something new.

Today our dream team created 100 pieces of seedy paper. These will be gifted to the Home Libraries Service along with words of hope. Recipients (mostly people who are housebound) will be able to plant the paper and watch the flowers grow.

This is one way in which Creative Recovery and Barnsley Libraries continue to spread seeds of change around our town as part of the project with funding and support from The Europe Challenge.

This Wednesday our Live Arts Cafe is inspired by the beautiful bee. You should 🐝 there at 5.30pm to get involved with bee related crafts with Wish's Art.

Also this year our Green UPLIFTs include bee keeping, bug making and wild seed spreading. Its going to 🐝 great so you can expect lots more bee related puns. We’re buzzing!

A little clip of us singing “What a Wonderful World” at the Town Hall the other week 🎶

Just to say - if you come to Uplift Choir sessions, you don’t have to perform at events like this. That’s completely up to you.

Lots of people just come on a Thursday, to enjoy the singing, have a laugh and spend time with friends.

Thursdays 2–4pm
📍 St Paul’s Church Hall (off Greenfoot Lane)
💛 Free (donations welcome)
Just turn up - you’ll be very welcome!
