To mark UK Disability History Month earlier this month, we're shining a light on a few of our services that support people every day to access the care they need.

• Hollybank: A welcoming, homely environment supporting children aged 5-17 with disabilities, complex health needs, autism and behaviours that challenge.
• Children’s Occupational Therapy: Supporting children and young people aged 0–18 with everyday activities, helping them build skills, confidence and independence.
• Wheelchair Service: Providing adults and young people with tailored wheelchairs and seating to support long-term mobility needs.

This Friday, make sure to drop by the Winter Health Bus at PRUH for your vital health checks and vaccinations!

The Winter Health Bus will be in at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) on Friday 28 November 2025, 10am-4pm offering:

👉Free winter vaccinations to eligible adults (flu and COVID-19)
👉Vital 5 health checks

The bus will be located close to the main entrance.

Our Bromley Haemoglobinopathy Community Nursing Service is hosting a Festive Sickle Cell Social in Orpington on Thursday 4 December. If you are in Bromley and you are an adult with sickle cell or parent/carer of a child with sickle cell, come and connect with others affected by sickle cell over refreshments and activities. Members of our Enhanced Sickle Cell Community Care team will also be on hand to answer questions and share information about local support.

🗓 Date: Thursday 4 December, 10am-2pm
📍 Location: The Hope Centre, Walnuts Shopping Centre, Orpington BR6

The event is open to adults with sickle cell and parents/carers of children with sickle cell who live in Bromley or have a Bromley GP. A crèche for pre-school children will be available from 10–12.

Our Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, Susie Lloyd, recently wrote a guest blog for Stamma exploring her 'suit of armour' analogy for living with stammering. Last week, our colleagues Rebecca (Bromley Health Visiting), Alexandra and Naomi (Children's Bladder and Bowel) represented us at SEND Local Offer Live, an event hosted by Bromley SEND Local Offer. The day was filled with games, activities, taster sessions, and resources for children and young people with SEND and their families.

Thanks to Rebecca, Alex, and Naomi for sharing information, advice, and resources with attendees. It was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the support we offer and connect directly with families in the community.

This summer we were lucky to host Nath Samaratunga, a Cambridge Judge Business School MBA and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School student from the United States, as a Strategy and Transformation Intern at Bromley Healthcare.

Nath contributed to projects improving data integration and urgent care pathways — work that aligns with the NHS 10-year plan focus on integrated, preventative, and community-based care.

Reflecting on his time with us, Nath described Bromley Healthcare as “a model of what healthcare can be when innovation meets compassion.”

"This experience has deepened my conviction that healthcare must be both compassionate and strategic, and that real change is possible when organisations put people at the centre."

🏠 Home Pathway – helping people regain movement and independence after hospital stays and ensuring they receive the care they need.
💻 Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for Adults at Home – shortlisted for the Greener NHS Award as part of the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer’s (CAHPO) Awards 2025 for the team’s innovative approach to delivering more sustainable healthcare that meets people’s needs.
🚸 Children's Speech and Language Therapy – bridging the gaps so all children in Bromley mainstream schools can access support for speech, language, and communication needs.

HIRING: Community Healthcare Support Worker (Band 3/Band 2 developmental)

Join Bromley Healthcare’s District Nursing Teams in Bromley, Beckenham, Orpington, or Biggin Hill, delivering care in patients’ homes. You’ll provide person-centred support for people with long-term conditions, rehabilitation needs, or end-of-life care, plus delegated clinical tasks (e.g. observations, wound care, catheter support) depending on your competencies.

There is an opportunity to learn more about this role by visiting Orpington College on 26th September to meet the head of nursing here at Bromley Healthcare - no appointment needed, just turn up between 9am - 5pm.
