Start Corporation Start Corporation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1984. We are proud to serve communities throughout Louisiana.

Our Mission is to promote opportunities, which enhance the self-sufficiency of people to empower them to live and function independently. We offer Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Community Based Services, Veterans Services, Crisis Care and Homeless Outreach/Coordinated Entry throughout the state of Louisiana. Currently, we operate five Federally Qualified Health Centers and are excited to add two more this year. Start Corporation received 3 Year CARF Accreditation for Case Management/Services Coordination, Community Housing, and Community Integration. A warming shelter will be open at Dumas Auditorium to provide a safe, warm place during cold weather.

📍 Location: 301 West Tunnel Boulevard

🕕 Hours:
- Sunday, January 25, 2026: 6:00 PM overnight to 9:00 AM
- Monday, January 26, 2026: 6:00 PM overnight to 9:00 AM

Please note: Registered s*x offenders are not permitted to remain inside or around the perimeter of the warming shelter. An officer on duty can provide information about other shelter options.

Start Corp’s Connecting Kids to Coverage (CKC) program helps children, parents, and pregnant women get connected to affordable health coverage through Medicaid and CHIP.

The CKC team can help with:

Join us for our next Veteran Peer Support Group on January 22nd from 12:30–2:00 PM. This session will include a Vision Board activity for anyone who would like to participate.

👥 Who can attend?
- Open to SSG-FOX clients
- Non-participants are welcome as long as they are willing to complete a brief screener at the start of group or before leaving
- Former FOX clients who closed services within the last 3–6 months do not need to re-screen, but we do ask that you complete a post-discharge satisfaction survey

Start Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 1984. Start Corporation strongly believes in recovery, quality of life, respect, and personal choice for our clients and for everyone.

Start Corporation has successfully established numerous programs to provide supportive housing, case management, social skills training, residential services, a clubhouse, and a Peer to Peer program for persons with low incomes and/or behavioral, physical, or developmental challenges and disabilities.

Start Corporation received 3 Year CARF Accreditation for Case Management/Services Coordination, Community Housing, and Community Integration. Start Community Health Center received level 3 accreditation for Patient Centered Medical Home in September of 2017.
