💚My second internship will be with Slow & Co on Tenerife - an island we adore and have spent many months and season on. I'm looking forward learning from Kim De Coster - THE sustainability connector, project & event manager in the islas and beyond!

🤩Thrilled to uncover more of those hidden gems the Island(s) seemingly give endlessly. Especially evolving and shining a light on all these amazing local initiatives; those passionate individuals fighting to make a difference. Visionaries who create a better future today.

📢 There have been many protests against tourism this past summer and understandingly so. You can actually love a destination to death. Which is exactly why a collaborative intervention is needed in my opinion. Tourism can make or break a place and its people. Which is why a greater, holistic vision and approach is needed for all destinations.

🤝 This requires all stakeholders coming together and follow up big words with action - governments, DMOs, DMCs, local and foreign businesses. Travelers too need to be educated and inspired to better choices.

❓If we love a place because of it's beauty and cultural uniqueness, how do we plan to preserve and honor it, is a question we should all ask ourselves. A question we should be asked along the way from researching for a trip to stepping a foot onto foreign lands.

✨ The most beautiful woven products such as rugs and cushions, woven baskets and forged brass items such as golden soap dishes, bathroom fixtures, and entire bathtubs, among many others. Truly stunning and incredibly captivating items...

⚠️ But please please keep in mind:

👉 Quality: Not everything you are told is true - there is no cactus silk, many things are imported.

❌ Exploitation: The issue of underpayment and exploitation in artisanal industries is a significant concern in many countries, including Morocco. Artisans, particularly those working in traditional crafts such as weaving, pottery, and metalwork, often face low wages and poor working conditions.

✅ Support fair trade practices and buy directly from cooperatives. This helps to ensure that artisans are fairly compensated and work in humane conditions.

No, I'm not somewhere warm and sunny.

Not yet. Quite the opposite.

A few days ago I finally had my other ear operated and I'm stuck in bed. Feeling a bit awful and sorry for myself which I find a tiny bit annoying - I wanna do stuff! But when there is no energy, dizziness and pain, I better not push it. ❤️‍🩹

Because the faster I heal, the faster we can pack and travel!

I'm also very happy being a student right now studying TRAC tourism & travel consultant at Frans Schartaus Business Institute in Stockholm. 👩‍🎓

Im so happy this laser sharp education crossed my way this summer, I applied, got accepted and after two exciting years, I'll once again join the professional world of (wellness)travel. 🌍

The Story

Andrea, born ´87 in Germany, Swedish Citizen by choice, World Traveller for life. At the age of 16 she was attending a lecture about food additives which opened her eyes. It was also mentioned that certain chemicals, like petroleum, is used in skin care products. That explained the feeling of too -tight-for-the-face dry skin despite all the rubbing in with creams and lotions. And why put (bad) additives in food? That just didn’t sound right. Andrea started to make her own skin care back then and hasn’t stopped since. She also started questioning the food on her table. Foods with additives long gone from her shopping bag, she wondered why she should eat fish if it is soaked with environmental toxins and heavy metals. And why drinking cows milk despite being a (nearly) grown up human woman? Pork wasn’t good for anyone they said and then red meet neither. Was meat good for you at all? she asked herself. She came to understand that it is best not just to eat to fill her tummy, but to nourish her body with foods that are whole, that were not over-altered in some factory. White pasta became wholemeal pasta, white rice brown rice and hello to millet, buckwheat and quinoa.

The consequences of this lifestyle were new and hightend form of energy and well-beeing, no more stomach ache, headaches, no more getting sick, pimples etc.

Her journey made her look at life from a holistic perspective which is why she likes to keep it simple but raw and pure – well, most of the time, because we are all human right? Her lifestyle can be called many things, but why label yourself when you truly want to be free? She follows her gut feeling, shamelessly creates, shares and eats tons of plant based whole foods, smothers herself in cold pressed organic plant oils, dresses in preferably black and white and pink because its beautiful and practical if all you own must fit into a backpack. She simply wants to share all she has learned and never stop learning along the road herself.
