Society of NASA Flight Surgeons This society is to advance the science, art, and identity of space medicine; document the historical achievements in operational space medicine.

The is an organization made up of individuals who have served as NASA flight surgeons or have served as a flight surgeon in operational support of human spaceflight space missions. The Society of NASA Flight Surgeons emblem depicts unity of aspiration and endeavor by all sharing the stated goals and objectives- human space exploration. It includes a gold winged motif symbolizing technology from aviation and space, as well as the Aesculapian staff entwined by the green serpent, traditional to medicine of the ages. The gold wing sweeps upward from the moon, symbolizing the aggregate efforts from Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs culminating in the historic lunar landing of astronauts. Other figures in the emblem include a toroidal space station, Mars, the five stars of the Southern Cross, and Earth's bright neighbors, Alpha and Beta Centauri, with Alpha being our nearest stellar system to our Sun's. Lastly is the Andromeda Nebula, flanked by two island galaxies looming as a cosmological wisp declaring its unsearchable mysteries open to the hopes and strivings of those who would know them or PER ASPERA AD ASTRA.
