At Peace Arch Hospice Society, we’re reminded every day that small acts of kindness can come together to create something truly meaningful.

Whether welcoming visitors at our Supportive Care Centre, sorting treasures in our Thrift Store, delivering comfort calls, supporting grief programs, or helping behind the scenes, our volunteers give their time, energy, and heart in countless ways.

Some contributions are seen by everyone. Others happen quietly, away from the spotlight. Yet every single act makes a difference.

Together, these individual efforts sustain our grief and palliative support programs and services, keeping them free and accessible to those who need them most.

This National Volunteer Week, we celebrate and thank every Volunteer who shares their time, their skills, and their compassion.

Every contribution matters. Thank you. πŸ’™πŸ•ŠοΈ

March 20th marks the first day of spring; a season of renewal, growth, and new beginnings. 🌱🌸

Today is also the start of Nowruz, which means β€œNew Day” in Persian, the world’s oldest continuously celebrated new year. Aligned with the spring equinox, over 300 million people across 15+ countries mark this 3,000-year-old festival of renewal. Recognized by UNESCO and the United Nations, Nowruz transcends borders, religions, and languages and is a shared celebration of light, family, and the return of spring. 🌏🌞

Today, we were grateful to experience a small part of that celebration here at PAHS. Our Director of Operations, Hanif, generously shared some beautiful homemade treats (made by his wife, Nalish) to celebrate the day – including Dhokla, a savoury Indian sponge cake from their own family tradition, and sweet Hot Date Chutney. Traditionally, a Nowruz spread might include items like sprouts, wheat pudding, dried fruit, and apples – each symbolizing renewal, health, and prosperity. A simple and meaningful act of kindness that brought warmth (and a little sweetness!) to our day. 🍰πŸ₯

It’s moments like these that show how connection, culture, and community can brighten our world. ✨

We were grateful to host a meaningful Lunch & Learn information session recently, featuring a thoughtful presentation by Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre: Your Life, Your Legacy – Estate Planning 101. πŸ“šβœ¨

Planning ahead isn’t just about paperwork – it’s about peace of mind. Taking the time to make decisions now can ease stress for your loved ones later, giving them the space to focus on what truly matters. ⏱️😌

Thank you to the team at Victory Memorial for sharing your knowledge and guiding our community through the importance of advance planning. πŸ™πŸ•ŠοΈ
