The original Lion King movie 🦁🌅 served as our inspiration for our first Children’s Grief Camp of 2026. Over two days, eleven children experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one had the opportunity to come together and be with peers, have conversations around death, dying, and grief, learn ways to cope with big emotions, and have fun. 💛 We crafted lion masks, grubs, and guiding stars ⭐ in memory of our special people. We had the chance to test our skills and wisdoms in station games and a safari scavenger hunt 🐾, and we got to host two amazing guests: Face painter Mackenzie (MJC Artistry - Face Painting Vancouver) 🎨 and Drum Master Kwasi 🥁 who both brought art, joy, and smiles to the children’s faces.
A deep thank you to three special women who crafted and donated beautiful items for the children: Lion themed tote bags and Comfort Critters 🧵 from Tammy, handmade bunnies 🐰 from Denise, and lion rocks 🪨 from Audrey. Each item added more magic ✨ for this special weekend!
And finally, this camp would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers who show up and give their incredible energy, attention, love, and wisdom to the Camp. Thank you! 🙏💫
