Our Registered Clinical Counsellors and trained Volunteers provide professional services such as companionship, counselling, support groups, relaxation therapy, children's grief counselling, and more. We rely on fundraising through grants, events, donations, and our Thrift Store. Please contact us to learn how you can help by volunteering or donating.

At the booth, community members are invited to write the name of a loved one they wish to remember on a paper dove โ€“ always offered free of charge. Those who choose to donate $20 or more receive a clay or wooden dove, each one hand-painted by local artists with care and intention. ๐Ÿ’™

Our Celebrate A Life fundraiser is happening now through December 23rd! โœจ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโœจ

Meet Ian, one of our remarkable Volunteers, who spent 37 hours hand-cutting our wooden doves last year in preparation for local artists to paint. His care and craftsmanship make this yearโ€™s keepsakes truly meaningful. Thanks for all your hard work, Ian!

Visit our volunteers at Semiahmoo Shopping Centre and honour someone you would like to remember by writing their name on a paper dove and placing it on our Celebrate A Life tree, free of charge. ๐ŸŽ When you donate $20 or more, youโ€™ll receive one of our hand-painted wooden or clay doves as a heartfelt thank-you from us. ๐Ÿซถ

Your support helps strengthen compassionate grief and palliative programs in our community. Join us in remembering, celebrating, and giving back this holiday season. ๐ŸŽ„

PAHS Executive Director, Amanda McNally, joined BC Hospice Palliative Care Association (BCHPCA) at the BC Legislature for National Grief and Bereavement Day on November 18th; standing with hospice leaders from across the province to share a unified message on behalf of our sector.

The Day at the Legislature included meetings with MLAs, Parliamentary Secretaries, and senior Ministry of Health officials to highlight:

๐Ÿ’™ The essential role Hospice Societies play in community-based grief and bereavement care
๐Ÿ’™ The need for equitable funding pathways and stable provincial investment
๐Ÿ’™ The importance of integrating grief and bereavement care across health, mental-health, education, and social-care systems
๐Ÿ’™ The unique pressures faced in rural and remote communities, where Hospice Societies are often the only accessible support

These conversations strengthened awareness of the vital grief and bereavement services Hospice Societies have been providing for over 40 years, ensuring care close to home, delivered with dignity, compassion, cultural awareness, and in response to each communityโ€™s unique needs.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, weโ€™re reminded just how essential this work is. Hospice Societies across BC support more than 85,000 people every year through counselling, support groups, caregiver programs, education, and community grief-literacy initiatives. Your generosity ensures these services remain free and accessible for all who need them.
