The European Society for immunodeficiencies (ESID) is a non for profit association that was created in 1994. ESID has been striving to improve the knowledge in the field of Primary Immunodeficiency (PID) by encouraging research, developing educational programs and fostering cooperation among all those involved in the diagnosis, treatment and management of these diseases. ESID is organized in 7 working parties – Inborn Errors, Clinical, Education, Genetics, Registry, ESID Juniors, PID Care in Development.

“Not every hospital or lab can do everything, and it's okay to admit that. The key is collaboration. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help or guidance when needed. Seek out advanced groups, embrace new therapies, and always push for the right diagnosis and therapy. Keep learning, and go as far as you can.”

This was Teresa Espanol’s answer when asked what advice she would give to herself — a moment that brought the entire plenary hall to its feet with a standing ovation at her Lifetime Achievement Award at .

Her message of collaboration, courage, and continuous learning is a powerful reminder for all of us in the field. We look forward to ESID 2026 – 22nd Biennial Meeting in Maastricht, Netherlands, 14–17 October 2026, where our international IEI community will gather again to share, learn, and advance together.
