The congress is strongly focused on evidence-based practice and aims to promote excellence in all aspects of labor management.

ECIC provides a unique opportunity for all healthcare professionals working in the labor ward to meet each other, share their ideas and experiences, and obtain updated information on key aspects of clinical care. It endorses the visions of safe and respected birth, genuine teamwork in the labour ward, and provision of a positive birth experience to all women.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Professor Tim Draycott's family, friends, and the scientific community he helped build.

Prof. Draycott will be remembered not only for his outstanding contributions and sharp insight, but also for his humour, warmth,
and cheerful energy.

The ECIC - European Congress on Intrapartum Care Scientific Committee, the Intrapartum Care Special Interest Group of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine, and MCA Scientific Events feel fortunate to have worked alongside him.

He will be greatly missed, and his impact will continue through the community he shaped and the legacy he leaves behind.

Following on the successes of the previous editions of the European Congress on Intrapartum Care (ECIC) – Making Birth Safer, we are delighted to welcome you to the fourth edition – ECIC 2019 – in the beautiful city of Turin. Jointly organised by the European Association of Perinatal Medicine and the European Midwives Association, this congress constitutes a unique opportunity for all healthcare professionals working in the labor ward to meet each other, share their ideas and experiences, and obtain updated information on key aspects of clinical care.
