One of the first things I changed when I started paying attention to my metabolic health was how I was eating carbs and not whether I was eating them or not.

I used to grab fruit on the way out the door, have crackers as a snack, eat rice on its own and wonder why I felt foggy and hungry an hour later. I didn’t realize that my hormones were making me more sensitive to those blood sugar swings than I’d ever been before.

In 2018 I had no idea what was coming.

Between then and now I’ve gone through infertility, a successful pregnancy, breast cancer when my son was just 8 months old, two years of tamoxifen, and medically induced menopause at 33.

I thought I’d never feel like myself again… In my body, my energy, my skin and that terrified me.

I’m not one of the “lucky ones” who breeze through tamoxifen or sudden menopause. It hit me hard but I kept showing up and slowly relearned what works for my body.

No crazy diets or supplements. Just a program that held me accountable and reminded me that the basics work and after a few weeks I had more energy. Then I didn’t stop and once I saw how much better I felt (inside and out) I knew I had to become a coach.

My clients are doing their 24 hr fast today and some of them are attempting it for the very first time!
Re-sharing this post as a reminder of everything their body is doing behind the scenes right now.I completed mine on Tuesday because I had  a busy day and that always makes the hours go by faster! 

A 24-hour fast gives your body something really special: complete digestive rest. When it’s not busy breaking down food, delivering nutrients, or burning fuel… it gets to focus on the stuff that often gets pushed aside.

Things like cellular repair. 🔬 Two processes that happen during a fast that I think everyone should know about:

✔️Autophagy: your body identifying and clearing out damaged or redundant cells

✔️Apoptosis: the natural, healthy death of cells that no longer serve you.

This is why fasting research keeps showing up in conversations around cancer prevention and Alzheimer’s. The body knows how to heal but sometimes it just needs the space and time to do it.

If your body feels different lately… you’re not imagining it. After cancer. During perimenopause. In menopause… what used to work just doesn’t anymore.

And it’s not because you need more restriction which is what the majority of people believe. It’s because your body needs more support.

When you track macros you understand what your body needs to feel better again.
This is how I coach my clients who are experiencing hormonal shifts or recovering from cancer. We stop chasing weight loss and start supporting the body, I promise you, the weight loss will follow.

I got chemo on Thursdays and by Monday I was back in the gym but instead of my 20s, I was picking up 5s. Maybe 8s the next day. Then 10s.

At first it was hard not to feel discouraged. But I will forever be grateful for that version of me who showed up anyway.

Perfectly or imperfectly, I kept stacking days.

Challenges will find every single one of us. Some heavier than others but we're all out here stacking days in one way or another.

I'm not a superhuman who beat cancer and snapped back. I'm someone who removed the expectations. Who stopped the harsh self-talk. Who kept doing the basics even when the basics looked like a 5-pound dumbbell.

That's what got me here. No secret or shortcut. Just consistency, the basics, and one more day stacked on top of the last.

And to the women in my DMs waiting for the perfect moment to start… If you won't get a little uncomfortable stacking imperfect days, you'll stay uncomfortable permanently.

I started with 5 pounds coming off chemo. You can start wherever you are and if you need help or accountability, I’m here for you!

I see you. The weight gain during treatment, the frustration with hormone therapy, the feeling that your body just isn't yours anymore. It's real, it's common, and it's not your fault.

And yes a lot of women are turning to GLP-1s to help. You're welcome here, no judgment.

But I want you to know this:

đź’Ş Weight loss shouldn't be the only goal. After breast cancer, building muscle is everything. It protects your metabolism, your bones, your energy and most importantly your long-term health.

🌿 Under-fueling can make your hormones worse. If you're not eating enough of the right things, you risk throwing your hormones even further out of balance. After everything you've been through, that's the last thing we want.

🔄 Habits outlast medication. A GLP-1 is a tool but the habits you build while on it are what carry you forward long-term.
You deserve a strategy, not just a prescription and I’m here to help you with that.
