Essential oils are becoming more common to use during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period to treat anxiety, aches and lack of focus; but are they safe?

While essential oils have been deemed safe when used as directed/intended, it is best not to ingest or apply them topically. It's also important to understand that pregnancy can influence how you react; heightened senses of smell may leave you feeling overwhelmed rather than relaxed due to the scent of the oils or trigger symptoms like nausea.

If you still want to use essential oils, source essential oils that are 100% plant-derived without fillers or byproducts. 🌱Lavender, eucalyptus, neroli, and ylang-ylang are some safe and beneficial options to try as long as you get the all clear from your doctors!

Some oils you should refrain from using:
❌ Aniseed
❌ Birch
❌ Camphor
❌ Clary Sage
❌ Clove
❌ Geranium
❌ Mugwort
❌ Parsley Seed or Leaf
❌ Peppermint
❌ Rosemary
❌ Sage
❌ Thyme
❌ Wintergreen
❌ Wormwood

It’s critical to discuss the use of essential oils with your OBGYN.🤰 Every woman’s pregnancy, symptoms, and potential risk factors are unique. Your doctor should be your first resource for questions about essential oil use and other pregnancy-related concerns.🩺

When you are pregnant, it is crucial to check that your massage therapist is versed in how to manage pregnancy treatments.

A qualified therapist will know where to apply pressure (and where not to), will have education on how to navigate your specific symptoms and pain, what areas to avoid in reflexology, and what aftercare suggestions need to be made to account for what trimester you are in.

Pregnancy massage is a delicate treatment, and you need experienced hands to guide you to the benefits. It cannot be treated like any other massage. Please always ask your massage therapist about their experience and inform your Doctor of your activities.

Reflexology is an ancient holistic technique often used to soothe the aches and pains in your back and joints by applying pressure to key pressure points. 💪🏻

The technique may provide possible relief from a multitude of pregnancy symptoms, including morning sickness, heartburn, swelling in the legs (if it's not due to preeclampsia), constipation, high blood pressure (as long as it's not related to preeclampsia), insomnia, bladder problems, mild cramping and haemorrhoids.

Some have even reported a decrease in depression and anxiety.

As with any new therapy during pregnancy, remember to consult your practitioner before you begin reflexology treatments. Make sure that your reflexologist is a trained professional. 🤰🏻

Don’t forget to mention that you’re pregnant before your session and ask your reflexologist how much experience he or she has working with pregnant women.

Keep in mind that there are certain complications for which reflexology is specifically not recommended. Talk to your practitioner and your reflexologist; good reflexologists will not work on you unless they're sure that they won't cause you or your baby any harm.

For most pregnant moms, however, reflexology is a totally blissful way to soothe your sore and tired body.

Spring is the perfect time for renewal and detoxification.

Spring is beautiful… but allergies? Not so much. 🤧
If congestion, itchy eyes, and sneezing are stealing your sunshine, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) could be your secret weapon.

This gentle, targeted massage helps:
✨ Reduce swelling & inflammation in the face and neck
✨ Clear sinus congestion
✨ Boost your immune system
✨ Promote deep relaxation & better sleep

By stimulating your lymphatic system, Lymph Drainage helps your body flush away toxins, allergens, and excess fluid, giving you relief without relying solely on medication.

Perfect for allergy season and as part of a seasonal detox, massage supports your body’s natural healing and helps you feel lighter, clearer, and more energised.

Allergic Rhinitis is the worst in Spring, and who wants to walk around with a stuffy nose, waiting to remember what it feels like to breathe normally? 👃🏻💨

Here are some holistic tips we're amped to share so you can appreciate the privilege of free breathing.

1. Steam with Menthol Crystals
2. Manual Lymph Drainage of the sinuses (Ash says this is best after a hot bath or shower)
3. A humidifier with eucalyptus and mint to open up the airways, our Breathe oil has both.
4. Spekboom plants in your home not only clean the air like a machine, but they also help with dry air!
5. Avoid dairy and sugar for a few days to reduce mucus production.

These aren't foolproof, and some noses are more stubborn than others, but they will definitely improve your symptoms!🧚‍♀️

The Glitter Pixies Breathe essential oil will help clear up seasonal Spring stuffy noses:

A blend of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Frankincense, Lemon

This oil combination not only helps to open up your sinuses when you have a cold, allergies, or hay fever, but also relieves congestion like magic.

( And if you really want to kick congestion to the pollen-coated curb, try some menthol crystals; if your ears could water, they would!)

The woman behind the wellness.

Meet Ash — massage therapist, wellness warrior, safe space maker, and crochet queen 🧶

If you ask Ash why she got into wellness, she will tell you that she had a dream to help people heal in many ways without feeling invasive. The woman who inspired her most? “My mom. She’s always been my biggest example of what it means to give back. She taught me that following my passion and leading with empathy isn’t just a strength, it’s a skill. And honestly? It’s something no textbook could teach me.”

She also feels inspired daily by her clients, the women juggling careers, kids, and everything in between. “They’re actual superheroes,” she says. “I learn from them all the time. They remind me why I do what I do.”

Ashes' biggest pet peeve is when clients don't do the beneficial "homework" she gives them, and don't get her started on toilet paper. (It goes over, people. Every time.)

You might not expect it, but when she’s not treating tight muscles or building wellness plans, she’s crocheting amigurumi, listening to Pavrotti (since birth, thanks to her parents), and writing for wellness blogs around the world.

One thing she’d tell her younger self?

“You’re not just going to heal pain. You’re going to be the safe space. It might get heavy sometimes, but it’s so worth it. Keep going.”

And her go-to trick after a long day that she wishes EVERYONE could know? A castor oil + Epsom salt bath. Soothe the muscles, soften the skin, but rehydrate after. “Trust me. It’s magic.”

Here’s to the woman behind the wellness and all women like her, grounded, passionate, and proof that healing happens in more ways than one

Hormone imbalances creep up on you; they aren't loud and frightening, and a lot of the time, the symptoms can be confused for things we ladies already experience: breakouts, bloating, mood shifts, restless sleep. But they can (and do) take over when left unchecked.

Massage therapy can support hormonal balance! It helps lower cortisol, improves circulation, supports lymphatic drainage, and re-centres your body. Here's how:

🧘‍♀️ Reduces stress hormones
Massage helps lower cortisol levels, the stress hormone that can throw off your entire hormonal system when it's too high for too long.
😊 Boosts feel-good chemicals
It increases serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. These support emotional stability, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep quality, which is key for hormonal health.
💧 Improves circulation and lymph flow
Better blood and lymph flow helps your body detox and transport hormones more effectively.
😴 Encourages deeper rest
Massage relaxes your nervous system and helps you get better sleep. This is when your body does some of its best hormone-balancing work.
