Altitude is A-OK: Flying is safe! The balloon is designed to handle normal changes in air pressure during flights, so you can relax on the plane.

Stay Hydrated: Travel can be dehydrating. Remember to sip fluids frequently throughout your journey to stay comfortable and healthy.

Travel-Friendly Food: Be prepared! Pack healthy, portion-controlled snacks and choose easily digestible meals while on the go.

Don't let anything hold you back from celebrating this year. Your gastric balloon is a supportive tool designed to work with your life, not restrict it!

The likelihood of a gastric balloon leaking, deflating, or "bursting" is generally considered very low or a rare occurrence. However, understanding potential complications like a leak or deflation is crucial for all patients.

To detect a leak, the saline fluid inside the balloon contains a blue dye (like Methylene Blue). If the balloon leaks, the dye is absorbed by the body, and you will notice a sudden change to blue or green coloured urine (and/or stools).

If you notice the colour change, get in touch with your specialist for further intervention.
