Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of hosting a specialised training session led by Dr. Rene Hornby.
The session equipped audiologists with deeper insights into the latest advancements in recorded speech audiometry and speech in noise testing.
These test are game changers for accurate devices being chosen for what patients really need to do well in noisy environments.
All assessments you have should include speech in noise testing.

🧼 How should you clean your ears?
Here are a few ear hygiene tips:
Don’t clean with sharp objects or objects that push to wax deeper into your canal and compact it—olive oil drops, evaquwax, irrigation, suctioning are all services we offer dependent on your specific case.
Earwax helps cleanse the ear, don’t remove it unless necessary.
If you’re feeling pain or itching, see a healthcare provider.

👂 Your ears do more than just hear—they protect, balance, and regulate important functions in your body and brain
Crossing a road safely requires you to hear cars around you
Your ears balance you with each step you take and allow you to perceive how far objects are from you.
Your ears maintain neural synapses firing to your brain in auditory memory and processing and understanding of speech.
Taking care of them is vital for your overall health and neural cognition!
🧼 Keep them clean, avoid infections, and protect them from loud or constant noise.
If you’re experiencing discomfort or hearing issues, asking for repletion, consult an audiologist right away.
👂 Ear care is self-care! Book your appointment for an ear check-up today.

September is Deaf Awareness Month!
This month, we celebrate and honor the Deaf community while raising awareness about the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and understanding. It’s a time to learn, connect, and break down barriers—together we can create a world where every voice is heard.
How could your business incorporate someone with a disability? Packaging parcels, retail clothing room monitors, shelf packing, area cleaning. Recipe and kitchen work, golf cart managing at a club? Working in a garden or nursery.

Be Heard is a practice that has been a vision of mine for the last 6 years and through great provision we opened our doors on the first of September 2017. The statement and concept of our name I developed through working with many different people be it culture, income group, age ,or race. All people I found thrived when treated as an individual and were listened too.
Each case and client at Be Heard is treated holistically regarding their own personal specific needs and our goal is that each person feels they have been heard and their needs are met.
Mark 7: 31-37
31 Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee and into the region of the Decapolis. 32 There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him. 33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears. Then he spit and touched the man's tongue. 34 He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, "Ephphatha!" (which means "Be opened!"). 35 At this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly. 36 Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it.37 People were overwhelmed with amazement. "He has done everything well," they said. "He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."
