Eating disorders

My eating disorder has recently come to the surface in a way I could not ignore it anymore. Ending up in hospital is what it took.

Did you know that most women and young girls have eating disorders? Hating how one feels about ones body and being, is a disease, not just bad thoughts or attitudes.
I just learnt that mine began in utero, (in a powerfully healing N.O.T. kinesiology session) as my mother hated her body (no doubt from the constant emotional, mental and physical abuse from my father), as well as from the physical sexual abuse I got from my father.

Trauma, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other mental health issues can increase the likelihood of an eating disorder. Dieting and starvation. Frequent dieting is a risk factor for an eating disorder, especially with weight that is constantly going up and down when getting on and off new diets.

It is hard for people to understand that eating disorders are not a choice, they are not a lifestyle. Someone with an eating disorder is not trying to garner attention; they are not choosing to battle a life-altering mental health condition.

Eating disorders are an illness that takes control over someone as they struggle with disordered beliefs about their weight and shape, lack of self-esteem, and the constant societal emphasis placed on body image. Anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder are only some of the eating disorders affecting someone’s physical and mental health and lead to severe consequences.

Eating disorders are complex and unique. Understanding yours and sharing with others is the start to healing.

My aim here is to bring awareness around eating disorders. I have made mine public now, thereby committing to working on my healing and learning to love my body, not punish it. I wish the same for others, so please reach out, share and understand our physical, mental and emotional health is calling for support and love.

Burnout so early in the year!

I have found in the last month, so many of my clients are heading for burnout, and it is only February!! Being pulled in every direction for work, family, home, pets, responsibilities, also contributes to health issues and inreased physical pain.

Pressure is high for so many, and finances have been a challenge for many this month. February tends to be a slow month in many industries, and then picks up again in March. The wheels keep on turning and we can overcome and thrive again! Have faith!

If you feel like you are heading for burnout, pushing yourself too hard, and not managing your stress levels, please reach out for help. Life can be so much more pleasant, and fun even when we allow support from a friend or professional. Lets choose ease and joy rather than stress and overwhelm! It is a choice, we get to choose how we resond to life, but often, we forget while sliding down the slippery slope of overwhelm.

I would love to help and support you in whatever area you are struggling, physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. It is not weakenss to receive help, it is huge courage!

Choose YOUR health and happiness today! :)

As we approach the end of January, let's embrace the mantra, "Don't count the days; make the days count." This philosophy goes far beyond merely tracking the passage of time; it's about actively infusing each day with purpose and intention.

It’s a call to action, urging us not to let our days slip by in a blur of routine and obligation, but to actively shape them with meaningful actions and choices - things we’ve done on purpose!

In the ebb and flow of daily life, it's easy to get caught up in the minutiae – the endless to-do lists, the urgent but not necessarily important tasks that demand our attention. Yet, when we pause and realign with our deeper intentions, each day becomes an opportunity for purposeful living.

It's about making conscious choices that reflect our values, goals, and aspirations.

This approach to life transforms the mundane into the significant. Whether spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing a passion project, or making deliberate financial decisions that align with our long-term visions, each action becomes a building block in the architecture of a life well-lived.

So, as we wave goodbye to January and look ahead, let's challenge ourselves to live each day with purpose. Let's set intentions that matter, engage in activities that bring joy and fulfilment, and make choices that resonate with our deepest selves.

In doing so, we ensure that we're not just counting our days but truly making each day count towards a richer, more purpose-filled life journey.

Here’s to a February (and 2024!) filled with purpose!
