OMG… I made a mistake. What are people going to think?

Yesterday I posted something serious about joy and grief
And as per my usual practice, as soon as my posts go live, I always go back and re-listen… and lo and behold — WTF — there was an error in the caption......the last sentence auto-corrected to “cereal.”

It should’ve said .”....a little bit more understandable ....”
But what’s clearly typed there is “cereal.”
I mean… for goodness’ sake, how the hell was this possible?

I was horrified.

My first instinct?
Delete.
Fix.
Apologise.
Make it “perfect.”

But I took a breath and decided that my message was the key here, and this is a moment to breathe into my desire to be perfect and more so to FORCE perfection into everything...

So I decided to I’m letting it be.
Trust me, I had to do some conscious breathing to breathe through that weird little rush in my body ....
AND
remind myself: I’m allowed to make mistakes.

We all are.

So I am inviting you to be imperfect,
make a mistake and
resist the urge to immediately aplogise or fix

There is life after a mistake

I was on my way to a quiet birthday weekend. Nothing fancy — just the bare minimum on purpose. Reading, walking, eating out, no cooking. Birthdays are a great excuse for that. I was feeling good… settled… in love with my life and myself.

We’d just started driving with a delicious Vida coffee. I was about to take a bite of their egg-and-bacon croissant when this dense wave of energy rushed through me. So sudden. So unexpected. It stunned me. I leaned forward in my seat, completely thrown, unable to take the bite I was waiting for.

My husband asked what was wrong.

All I could say was, “I’m incredibly overwhelmed with sadness… about my dad.”

Then the urge to sob took over. So I let it. The sadness didn’t disappear — it stayed. For at least an hour I sat quietly, letting the tears come and breathing with them.

It came out of nowhere, but maybe there was a deeper awareness that celebrating my birthday — celebrating my life — also brings up how I got here. And yes… my dad was part of that.

And then the obvious truth: where there’s life, there’s death. Maybe every year around my birthday this awareness will show up. And that’s okay. I know more than one emotion can be present at the same time, but this was the first time it hit with such physical force.

There was comfort in imagining that maybe my dad is with me in some way — in the sky, in the air, definitely in my breath. He walked this earth. That alone means his presence lingers in ways I may never fully understand.

There’s a lot of info on grief, but I now know for sure: you can’t plan for it. It arrives when it wants to. What I’m grateful for is that I had my breath. I could anchor myself and let what was moving through me actually move.

The biggest WTF moment was how fast you can flip into opposite emotions. The line between them is so thin — like a transparent veil you only notice once you’re through it.

And when that shift happens, beautiful human, it’s the breath that helps you stay with yourself while life moves through you.

It’s Monday evening, and I know you have launched yourself into the week like a deranged rabbit…

But what if now is the moment you stop for a second and breathe?

Remember: you’re training your body to feel safe — not rushed, not frantic.
We’ve nailed the long exhales (in my previous reel 😎)… now we’re adding a tiny pause after the inhale and after the exhale.

Easy pace. No pressure. You’ve got this.
And again — you don’t need a retreat, a mat, or a mountain.
You can do this right now.

The Technique 👇
Inhale gently and slowly through your nose for a count of 3.
Hold for a soft count of 2.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 6.
Hold for a count of 2

👆 This is the switch that activates relaxation
Repeat for 5–10 rounds.

Your shoulders will drop.
Your mind will settle down
🥰 Your whole system will thank you.

Your body does not care that you’re on holiday.

It doesn’t even know you are going on holiday — because you’re already in the chaotic holiday rat race.

All the planning, organising, packing, scheduling… it actually trains your body to stay on high alert.

So now is the time to start helping your body out,
before you overreact, snap, or spiral while planning your “relaxing” holiday.

This is where breathwork becomes your secret weapon.
One thing you can focus on?
Long, slow exhales.
Slow, deep breathing tells your body, “you’re safe… you can relax now.”

Try this for 5 minutes: inhale for 3, exhale for 6.
It’s one of the fastest ways to switch out of stress mode — and you can do it literally anywhere.

If you actually want to feel rested this holiday season — during the prep and the holiday itself — help your body get the memo.

💚 Tag someone who needs a nervous-system reset before they even pack.

Holiday Tension is REAL

We tell ourselves we’re “on holiday,” but deep down, we’re already packing the painkillers for the migraines and the wine to take the edge off. Sound familiar?

You know what’s coming:
Close quarters with family or friends.
Crowded airports and ‘cosy’ car rides.
Money stress, rigid schedules, and high expectations.

It’s trigger central.
Here’s the truth your body knows: It’s been in fight mode all year, and you’re taking that same wired body with you.
It stays on high alert.

Your body won’t switch to “relax” just because you left the office. You are bringing your whole nervous system with you.

Ready to ditch the holiday tension?
If you need an opportunity to learn practical techniques to feel more relaxed and present,

Helping can become a pattern so ingrained it feels like an addiction.

Changing it isn’t instant — it’s about practising new behaviours, over and over, and using your breath to stay grounded and present.

Notice the pattern.
Be honest about the cost.
And know you don’t have to do this alone — reach out for support.

Change is a process. It will feel scary, the people around you might be shocked, but that’s okay.
One conscious breath at a time.
Easy does it.

Tag someone who needs this reminder — or drop a 💛 if you feel seen.

Stop, and close the door to wherever you are and give yourself 3 minutes to follow along with me to FEEL what confidence and personal power feel like

Saying no can feel foreign, especially when you’re used to being the organiser, the helper, the one who keeps everyone happy.
But you deserve to include yourself, too.

When you want to say no, your body will usually resist first — the tight shoulders, the held breath, the slight collapse in your posture. So let’s practice the opposite.

So let’s start practising how to sit and stand in a way that matches a grounded, confident, self-affirming no.

💛 Feel free to share with a fellow family “events planner” 😎

Today I sat down with my brand refresh work… and landed up having a whole moment with myself.

I was busy choosing my brand archetype, and honestly, the names alone had me judging everything before I even started.

Innocent? Everyman?
I rolled my eyes so hard I nearly saw my brain.

But then I actually read them.

And here’s the thing I didn’t want to admit at first: the ones that felt the most “ordinary”… were the ones that felt the most like home.

So I made three lists:
Not me.
So-so.
And the ones that hit me in the chest.

And the ones that hit?

The Everyman and the Innocent.

Not the flashy ones. Not the “look how edgy I am” ones.
The ones rooted in truth, simplicity, acceptance, being real, being human.

The ones that say, “I’m here to help people feel seen, not perform on a stage.”

And once I let myself breathe and actually claim that, I felt something shift.

This is who I am, not who I think I’m supposed to be.

And yes — there’s a touch of the Jester too. Not a comedian, but I do love a slightly wicked way of telling the truth.

So here I am… fully arrived, fully me.

My kind of rebel energy: daring to be simple, honest, grounded — in a world obsessed with being everything else.

If you need this reminder:
Stop calling yourself boring.
Stop thinking “ordinary” isn’t enough.
Stop comparing yourself to the loudest person in the room.

Just be you. It’s more powerful than you think.

This space is for the over-doers —

The people-pleasers. The fixers. The “I’ll just handle it” crew.

You know it’s you when the holiday prep kicks in — endless lists, overthinking, trying to make it magical for everyone else.

It’s hard. Guilt drives you. People rely on you.
You did this last year.
You’ll probably do it again.

Nothing changes until you decide 👇
Enough is enough!

Here we STOP, take a breath
and learn how to drop the guilt.
Saying NO isn’t selfish. It’s where your power lies

Before you spend, plan, or say yes — PAUSE

🌀 Inhale 🌀 Exhale

THEN..... ask yourself

💚 What actually matters this season?
💚 Have I included my needs in all my planning?

One small tweak. One honest NO!
That’s how you step back into your truth and love your self
You were not meant to be the people-pleasing fixer.

💛 Reach out or drop in the comments 👇
One NO you’d like to shout if you had the courage.
