Thank you for this reminder.

"There is so much more to behaviour than most people think. Children don’t try to upset us, there is usually something behind it. They are communicating their need through behaviour. If we look behind the behaviour we can see a child who is doing the best they can."

In today's world there is so much hype about connected, conscious, and gentle parenting and I’m finding that parents are feeling confused about setting boundaries. I know how tricky it can be for parents to find the balance between being gentle and being firm.

Let’s clear up the confusion: Conscious parenting doesn’t mean you can’t set boundaries. In fact, firm yet gentle boundaries are essential. The key is to set them with the 4 C’s:

- Concise: Keep it simple and clear.
- Confident: Trust yourself and your decision.
- Conviction: Say it like you mean it.
- Consistent: Stick to your boundaries every time.

Remember, you don’t have to be forceful or punitive to set an appropriate boundary. It’s about being assertive and kind at the same time. Boundaries are so important. They help our children feel safe and understood. Not setting boundaries and following through can do more harm than good. So don’t be afraid to set those boundaries and back yourself while doing it.
