Covid is still around. That’s for sure.
BUT, we are not testing. Why not?? The first thing is that, currently the infections are not serious— not any more serious that normal airway viruses. Whether covid or one of the other viruses, the treatment is the same.

So. This week I saw my first two covid positive patients for a long time. It has now emerged that there is a new strain in South Africa. Flights from South Africa to Europe are being cancelled or people need to quarantine!!!!
Please keep to the regulations in an effort to try keep this damn virus at bay.

I do not recall there ever being such a controversial subject in the medical field as the Covid vaccine. I will now give some information regarding this.

The very first thing we must understand: taking the vaccine will NOT prevent you from possibly getting Covid. What is the purpose then? The vaccine is used to reduce the number of infections BUT the main goal is to reduce the severity of the infections. Statistics from the USA show that 550 people STILL passed away from Covid infections in spite of having been vaccinated. However, the number of serious infections after vaccination and therefore hospitalisation and death were dramatically reduced.

There are questions being asked about the risk of clotting with the vaccine. That risk is 0,004%. A woman of 50 that smokes and is on hormonal treatment has a 0,01% chance of developing clots. My PERSONAL view is that people may want to consider taking an anti coagulant if they are concerned about clots. Remember the risk of clots in the lungs with an active Covid infection is very high.

There is also the concern of the long term complications with the vaccine. We all know the vaccines did not go through the normal process of years of testing. It is not easy to answer this one. All tests done until now seem to indicate it is safe. Unfortunately we do not have years of data available yet. What I can say is I have experienced Covid in its severe form and I don’t ever want to be there again. I will have the vaccine soon and then if we need to do it annually, I will do that.

Are we or are we not going to have a second wave of covid infections??? This virus has forced us to make changes to our predictions all the time. My personal opinion is that we will not. I see most epidemiologists are now also predicting that we won’t have a second wave. I feel it is time that we start living again—— without being irresponsible. Stick to the basics of preventing the spread of the virus. It is time that the MENTAL HEALTH of the people needs to be considered!!!!!!
