Bethlehem has been my home for so many years, not just as a place, but as a community of people I have come to care for deeply.

It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to support you in your recovery journeys, to walk alongside you during challenging seasons, and to celebrate every small step forward. Thank you for trusting me with your stories, your goals, and your wellbeing.

As my family and I begin a new chapter and relocate, I want to express my sincere gratitude for every moment shared in this practice. Your courage, resilience, and willingness to show up for yourselves have inspired me daily.

Although I will no longer be based in Bethlehem, my hope is that the care you received here continues to support you in the months and years ahead.

Thank you for the support, kindness, and connection over the years. It has truly meant more than words can say. 🌿💙

Chronic pain can affect how you move, think, and participate in daily life. It can make even small activities feel like big challenges.

Occupational therapy offers a practical, science-based approach to managing pain. Instead of focusing only on the pain itself, we look at how it impacts your routines, your goals, and the things that give your life meaning.

Through education, pacing, gentle movement, and problem-solving strategies, therapy helps you understand your pain better and find ways to work with your body, not against it.

Pain may be part of your story, but it does not have to define it. If you are living with ongoing pain and want to learn how OT can support your recovery, reach out to find out more.

As an occupational therapist with a postgraduate diploma in hand therapy, I design splints that are specific to each person, their injury, and their recovery goals. No two hands are the same, which is why every splint is unique.

For many of my patients, a well-fitted splint is not just a piece of equipment. It is a tool that gives them the confidence to move safely, to heal with protection, and to return to the activities that matter most in daily life.

Sometimes recovery needs more than movement. It also needs the right kind of support. Custom splints are carefully made to fit your hand, wrist, or arm. They can protect healing tissues after surgery, reduce strain on joints and tendons, manage pain, and make daily activities easier while your body recovers.

This year marks 80 years of Occupational Therapy in action! A legacy of restoring function, dignity, and hope across diverse communities, contexts, and life stages.
OT Week is not only a time to look back, but to acknowledge our past, improve our present, and shape a future where OTs continue to champion health, inclusion, and human potential.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also excited to share an update from our own practice:

Some injuries make it unlikely (or even impossible) for someone to return to the work they once did. But that doesn’t mean the journey ends there.

Re-skilling and vocational rehabilitation help injured workers regain purpose, rebuild capacity, and re-enter the workforce in meaningful new ways.

At our practice, occupational therapy plays a key role in this process, often from very early on. We help assess abilities, identify realistic work options, and support the development of new skills.

Organisations like RMA (Rand Mutual Assurance) and FEM (Federated Employers Mutual) have introduced initiatives to help their members re-skill after injury-on-duty, and that’s exactly where OT makes a difference.

We don’t just help people heal. We help them adapt, grow, and find purpose again 🌿

We’re so happy to welcome Inge Botha to the practice 🙌

Inge is a passionate occupational therapist, engaged to an Eastern Free Stater, and already bringing fresh inspiration to our team 👐

Her deep love for human occupation and the clever, purposeful ways she builds activity into therapy have reminded us why this work matters.

She shares this quote as a reflection of why she chose OT:
“People often ask why I chose occupational therapy. My first thought is always about helping people get back to doing the activities that bring meaning and joy to their lives. But it’s more than that — it’s about guiding them to break through self-limiting beliefs, to achieve goals they never thought possible…”

Welcome, Inge 🌿 we’re so lucky to have you on the team!

Geniet elke oomblik, Mia. Ons wag met afwagting om vir baba te ontmoet!

Most people think of stroke recovery when they hear “neurorehab” — and that’s a big part of what I do 🧠

But we also support adults living with Parkinson’s, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions that make daily life feel unfamiliar.

For our practice, neurorehabilitation is about helping people reconnect with their routines — whether that’s getting dressed, using their hands again, or managing energy and focus throughout the day.

Recovery looks different for everyone, so we meet each patient where they are and walk that road with them.

When people hear “occupational therapy,” they often picture a child learning to hold a pencil or tie a shoelace.

But for us, OT looks more like this:
✏️ Helping someone write again after a hand injury.
👕 Figuring out how to button a shirt with one hand after surgery.
🫴 Supporting someone who’s afraid to use their hand after a bad fall.
💙 Or simply helping someone feel less pain, less frustrated, and more in control of their body again.

That’s what OT is, too. Quiet, practical wins — built around real life.
