When we know things are going well!
These are 6 things you can check if you are concerned about your breastfeeding journey.
There will always be variables, but this is a good rule of thumb.
1. Make sure baby is not just attached to the ni**le. It is called BREASTfeeding for a reason ๐
2. Look at the jaw line, and see if baby is following a good suck-swallow pattern.
3. Newborns can feed anywhere between 7-30mins at a time. But a constant short or long feed, with short intervals, and overall fussy baby, needs some investigation.
*Average feed between 7-15min.
4. No ni**le pain.
5. For every day after birth, they gain one diaper per day, by day 4 they should usually have 4 wet and 4 dirty yellowish diapers, by day 10, 6-7 wet in 24hrs and 3-4 dirty.
6. Between day 10-14, they should atleast have gained their birth weight.
If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation.
I do support once off, but, since my clients give birth in Bloem and then go home (outside of Bloem), I also incorporated a 6 week online support package, for more info on this, contact me via WhatsApp.
