Skin concerns are personal. When you’re living with acne or any visible condition, the opinions often come uninvited and unfiltered.

It’s okay to set boundaries.
“I’m seeing my dermatologist. I have a treatment plan, and I’m sticking to it.”

That’s enough.

And if you’re the one tempted to comment, pause for a moment. Chances are, they’re already aware. Often what someone needs is not advice, but understanding, space, and support.

Skincare is medical. It’s individual. And it deserves respect.

Hidradenitis suppurativa is not just “bad skin” or recurring boils. It’s a chronic inflammatory condition that affects hair follicles and sweat gland areas, often causing painful nodules, abscesses, scarring, and flare-ups over time.

It commonly affects areas like the underarms, groin, and under the breasts, and it can have a significant impact on quality of life if not managed properly.

Early diagnosis matters. HS is manageable, but it requires a medical approach that looks at inflammation, triggers, skin care, and long-term control, not just treating flare-ups as they appear.

If you’ve been struggling with recurring painful lesions or unexplained inflammation in these areas, it’s worth having it assessed by a dermatologist.
