This Freedom Day, we’re reminded that true freedom goes beyond ourselves.

As Nelson Mandela once said:
“To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

At Third Age Group, we believe freedom is found in how we uplift, support, and empower those around us, our colleagues, our clients, and our communities. It’s in the way we show up for one another, build trust, and create opportunities for growth.

Today, we celebrate not only how far we’ve come as a nation, but also the role each of us plays in shaping a future where freedom is shared, protected, and strengthened together.

Being part of Third Age Group means more to us than just having a job, it’s about being part of something that’s helped shape who we are.

We each started our journey through the learnership programme at Broker Support Group, not always knowing exactly where it would lead, but knowing we were given an opportunity. Today, that journey looks different for each of us, Lu-Ann is still growing within the learnership programme, while Tyrah and Cameron have stepped into full-time roles through that same opportunity. That progression is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Through the growth of Third Age Group and the focus on developing people from within, we’ve been able to build real careers, not just gain experience.

What stands out for us is the way we’ve grown together as a team. It’s not just about working side by side, it’s about supporting each other, learning from one another, and pushing each other to be better every day.

Being part of this team means knowing you’re not alone. There’s a real sense of unity, trust, and respect, and it makes a difference in how we show up, not just for our work, but for each other.

We celebrate the wins together, we face challenges together, and through it all, we keep moving forward as one.

For us, Third Age Group is more than just a company, it’s a place where we’ve been given the chance to grow, to belong, and to build a future.

Our Story | Building the Foundation

Since our establishment in 1996, the years that followed were defined by growth, momentum, and bold steps forward.

In August 1999, we secured our very first short-term binder agreement with SA Eagle; a pivotal moment that laid the groundwork for what was to come.

By December 2002, we expanded our footprint through the acquisition of Consulto Insurance, led by Johan Strauss, strengthening both our expertise and our vision.

Then, in March 2003, we marked another milestone as we relocated to our offices at 5 Nobel Street, Bloemfontein; a space that became home to our growing staff.

Each step, each decision, and each milestone brought us closer to who we are today. And this is only the beginning of our journey towards 30 years of impact. Beyond Limits; Towards the Stars!
