We had an incredible time presenting the exciting world of 3D printing to the learners of Eunice Primary School in association with iClix Bloemfontein.

We explored the differences between subtractive and additive manufacturing, dived into the basics of 3D printing. The session was packed with innovation and hands-on learning. There was a live demonstration where we scanned a teacher’s face using a 3D scanner and printed the model on an FDM machine. We also showcased how 3D printing is changing lives, from creating custom implants for patients to helping animals with 3D printed solutions. To end off the day, learners got creative with a fun challenge building towers out of marshmallows and spaghetti, and the tallest tower teams took the win.

A heartfelt thank you to iClix and Eunice Primary School for the opportunity to share the future of manufacturing with such bright young minds.

As global leaders gather at the G20 to discuss innovation and sustainability, The Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM) is proud to contribute to the conversation through cutting-edge research in Additive Manufacturing.

We are exploring advanced material properties that enhance performance and durability in medical and industrial applications.

We are also pushing boundaries in powder recycling, helping reduce waste and promote circular manufacturing. CRPM conducts tests on each batch of recycled powder to verify it continues to comply with the standards specified for powder recycling.

Innovation is not just about technology, it is about responsibility.

We are thrilled to support Koffiefontein Combined School as they participate in the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow – Design The Future Competition, showcasing their creativity and engineering skills through a custom-designed tram model.

As part of their Samsung Solve For Tomorrow journey, the learners are exploring the use of 3D printing to bring their concept to life printing the track and docking station. With guidance from the Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM) at The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT, FS), they are taking their ideas from concept to reality.

We are proud to host these bright young minds for a hands-on day at the university, where they will refine their design and experience the power of innovation in action.

Thank you to Koffiefontein Combined School for the opportunity to collaborate on this inspiring initiative. We are proud to support your journey and excited to see your creativity come to life.
