Today, 19 December, is our last day for consultations before we take a short festive pause. As always, this time of year feels extra special - we have a few Christmas and New Year's babies due, and our hearts are full with excitement and anticipation 🤍

We’ll be resuming consultations on 5 January, refreshed and ready for a new year ahead.

As we reflect on the year that’s been, we want to say thank you to every family who trusted us, every mama who shared her journey with us, and every tiny miracle who made this year unforgettable. What a privilege it is to walk this path with you.

🌼 World Prematurity Day 2025 🌼
Today, we honour the strength of our tiniest fighters and the incredible resilience of the families who walk this journey with them.

At Estherea, this day carries deep meaning. One of our own midwives welcomed her baby prematurely, and through her experience we’ve been reminded just how delicate, emotional, and transformative this journey can be. Prematurity isn’t just something we support professionally , it is something we understand personally and hold very close to our hearts.

We also know how overwhelming the transition from hospital to home can feel, especially for families who don’t live in Bloemfontein. Your baby may be small, but the emotions, the questions, and the need for gentle, informed support are anything but.

That’s why we’re excited to share that in 2026 we are planning to open a dedicated step-down room for parents with prem babies.
This will be a calm, nurturing space where families can spend a few days after discharge, with a midwife on-call to guide, reassure, and support you as you settle into caring for your little one.

More details will follow as we move closer to launch, but today, on World Prematurity Day, we want to acknowledge every prem parent, every baby who has fought so bravely, and every clinician walking alongside them.

Birthday gifts all around!
This incredible mama gave birth to her son on her own birthday — what a celebration of life in every way.

And what a birth it was… our current record baby, weighing an amazing 4.81 kg, born in just 3 hours and 30 minutes!

Wilré, your and Pieter’s story is one of the reasons we will always believe so deeply in a woman’s ability to birth when she’s surrounded by the right support, love, and environment. It’s a reminder of why we do this work, and why we’ll keep showing up with everything we have for as long as we can.

Thank you for the honour and privilege of being part of your story.

🌸 Estherea’s Mom & Baby Group – Tomorrow's Session 🌸

Moms, tomorrow's gathering is all about one of the most common (and often overwhelming) parts of early motherhood - crying and reflux. 💛

We’re joined by Dr. Aletta Steenkamp, Developmental Paediatrician, who will guide us through understanding the causes, what’s normal, when to seek help, and how to soothe and support your little one (and yourself) through it all.

This is a safe, supportive space to learn, share, and connect with other moms who get it, led by experts who care deeply about your journey.

We meet at Estherea @ 9am, and all moms with babies are welcome to join. 💕

Marie O’Connor once said, “Birth is a mystery. Words are not enough.”

Having the privilege of witnessing your birth, Denè, truly reminded us of that truth. Watching the natural physiology of birth unfold within you left us in awe — it was powerful, raw, and deeply beautiful. Seeing Martin move through his fears to stand by your side with such strength and tenderness was equally moving — he even looked at the placenta! In that moment, we saw him step fully into fatherhood.

✨ De Wet was born on 25 July 2025 at 09:17, weighing 3.1 kg.

Congratulations, Denè and Martin — you are an incredible team.

The saying goes: when the going gets tough, the tough get going. I believe in this
case when the going gets tough, Sue-Anne rises and steps up to the plate.

The journey of this wonderful family has not been easy, but, they came back,
stronger than before and God blessed us with a birth filled with joy and victory.

Congratulations on the birth of Winé. May she be crowned with wisdom and know,
wherever she goes or goes through, that she is loved.

We’re thrilled to welcome you back to our cozy Mom & Baby Group, beginning Wednesday, 15 October. Come spend your Wednesday mornings in a warm, relaxed space made for connection, encouragement, and a good cup of coffee.

Here, you can meet other moms, share the real moments of early motherhood, and enjoy some gentle time with your baby. Every session brings heartfelt chats, practical guidance on baby development, and a few smiles along the way.
