Today is World Obesity Day.
Obesity is a complex, chronic medical condition influenced by genetic, metabolic, environmental, and behavioural factors. It is not a character flaw, and it is not an identity.
Healthcare conversations around weight should be rooted in evidence, compassion, and respect — not shame.
Sustainable health improvements are built through:
• Consistent lifestyle changes
• Nutritional support
• Physical activity tailored to ability
• Mental and emotional wellbeing
• Ongoing medical guidance when necessary
We are not in a battle with our bodies. Our bodies are not the enemy.
The focus should always be improved health outcomes, better energy, enhanced mobility, and overall quality of life.
On World Obesity Day, let’s commit to patient-centred care, dignity, and long-term health — not quick fixes.
