📢📢After three long years of perseverance, my empirical paper from my third PhD has finally been accepted for publication.

This journey was anything but easy.

My research focuses on prostate cancer and cannabinoids—a topic still burdened by deep stigma within academic and medical publishing.

Over the past three years, my work was rejected repeatedly, often without review. Some journals dismissed it outright because of the subject matter; others offered vague responses such as “not suitable for the journal.” Through this process, it became increasingly clear how resistant much of academic publishing remains to research that challenges entrenched pharmaceutical-centric narratives.

🙏There were moments of profound disappointment. Many setbacks. Many unanswered questions. Yet

I did not give up.👊

💥I knew this research was bigger than earning a third PhD. It was about scientific responsibility, education, and breaking stigma through evidence.

Why does this matter?

🔥Because this study represents the worlds first human-participant clinical paper on prostate cancer and cannabis, conducted with a control group and under extremely limited resources in South Africa 🇿🇦. It demonstrates that meaningful, high-quality research is possible even without large funding—when integrity, persistence, and purpose drive the work.

🙏After an intensive and rigorous peer-review process, the paper has now been accepted for publication in the Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoids Journal, a DHET-accredited journal indexed on PubMed.

This is not merely a personal achievement—it is a step forward for science.

📢📢To fellow academics, clinicians, and researchers:
If we are serious about advancing medicine, we must be willing to confront stigma with data and courage. Changing the perception of medical cannabis in cancer care requires collective effort, open minds, and evidence-based dialogue.

The Association of Cannabinoid Specialists is excited to announce Dr. Shiksha Gallow as our new International Development Ambassador! Her role will focus on bringing cannabinoid medicine education to clinicians, regulators, lawmakers, and industry professionals around the world.

Residing in South Africa, Dr. Gallow is a cannabinoid specialist with a background in clinical pathology. Dr. Gallow has a Doctorate in Medicine, three Master’s degrees (MBA, MPH and MMedSci), and is involved with ongoing work toward her third PhD focused on cannabinoids and prostate cancer. Dr. Gallow is a leading voice in cannabis research and education participating in events and conducting education around the world.

She is actively involved in academic research as a Clinical Research Associate at Tshwane University of Technology and serves as the Principal Investigator at the University of Pretoria for all cancer and cannabis-related clinical trials.

Dr. Gallow is the first South African appointed to the Board of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians (USA) and also serves on the International Cannabis Education Coalition (Ohio, USA) and ECS Education (Sweden) advisory boards.

Dr. Gallow remains committed to expanding patient access to safe, evidence-based, plant-based therapies across the globe.

The Association of Cannabinoid Specialists welcomes Dr. Gallow and looks forward to partnering with her in educating cannabinoid medicine practitioners, cannabis industry participants generally, as well as regulators and lawmakers.
