ποΈ What is Astigmatism?
You might have heard this word at your eye exam, but what does it actually mean?
Astigmatism is a common vision condition where your cornea (the clear front surface of your eye) has an irregular shape. Instead of being perfectly round like a basketball, it's shaped more like a football.
This uneven curvature causes light to focus on multiple points in your eye instead of one, leading to blurred or distorted vision at all distances.
Common signs :
Blurry or fuzzy vision
Eye strain or discomfort
Headaches, especially after reading
Difficulty seeing at night
Squinting to see clearly
The good news? Astigmatism is easily corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. Most people have at least a small amount of astigmatismβit's completely normal!
