Dana Carelse Establish Dana Carelse Physiotherapy in 2017 to help the community and to be intentional in the manner in which people are educated on the importance of rehab.

Graduated from UWC in 2011 with a Ba Sports Science degree.

I went on to graduate in 2016 with a Bsc Physiotherapy degree and did my community service in Port Shepstone, KZN.

I’m currently doing my Masters at UKZN.

I moved back to Cape Town and worked at a private gym, I worked for 3 years in a home based rehabilitation setting with geriatrics. And find myself currently working in a hospital were I love seeing people in the acute setting, getting them up and moving again. It truly brings me joy.

I see patients for post operative rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation , sports injuries, necks and back pain as well as addressing chest conditions. DC Physiotherapy is here to serve you.

I enjoy dancing, runs, beach walks and spending time with my friends and being intentional about it.

Medicine gives life but physiotherapy gives quality of life.To every physiotherapist out there I salute you.

Injuries E4: Ankle injuries part 2 (weight bearing exercises)

Do these only once you are able to do the previous exercises and when you are pain free.

Remember: plant that foot into the ground.

NB!! Ankle strengthening / improving balance is something you should do even of you do not have ankle problems.
It should be included in all your workouts!

Injuries E3: ankle injuries

Do you sprain your ankle often? What do you do to assist with healing?

Here are the first stages/steps to improve swelling, range and possibly weight bearing.

Next time we will look at the balance component.

Do remember to progress on to the next stage you need to be Pain free!

Injuries E2: lower back pain, maybe it's gluteal pain 🤔

Have you ever thought that tight buttock muscles could cause referred pain? It can sometimes lead too sciatic if extremely tight.
