On 21 April, Aimee had the opportunity to present on the importance of tissue donation at Western Cape Blood Service in Cape Town. Knowledge shared becomes impact multiplied, and awareness has the power to change lives.

The Western Cape Blood Service team attended Vitanova’s CPD accredited session, with additional attendees joining online, helping to carry the message of tissue donation even further.

On 15 April 2026, Craig and Laetitia from Vitanova Tissue Bank attended the Kidney Awareness & Testing Day at Rondebosch Dialysis Centre.

It was a meaningful day spent connecting with patients, staff, and the community, highlighting the importance of kidney health and the life-changing impact of tissue donation.

A special thank you to Robynne Silver, who passionately raised awareness about the life-improving impact of tissue donation. Through our collaborative work at the Observatory Forensic Pathology Institute (OFPI), we support and learn from the ongoing research work of the South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI) to understand the disease and the risks it holds for the population and its implications for tissue banking in South Africa.

On 12 March, we had the privilege of spending time at Lenmed Ethekweni Hospital in KZN in support of World Kidney Day.

In collaboration with the Organ Donor Foundation of SA, Renal Care Holdings, and the dedicated Lenmed Private Hospitals Transplant Coordinators, alongside Tracey Gibbs, Tissue Coordinator for Vitanova Tissue Bank, we raised awareness around organ and tissue donation while connecting with individuals passionate about making a difference.

On Thursday, 12 March 2026, Elize Scheepers, donor coordinator from Vitanova Tissue Bank, celebrated World Kidney Day in partnership with Organ Donor Foundation of SA at Universitas Hospital, Bloemfontein.

By donating tissue such as corneas, heart valves, skin, and long bones, one donor can restore sight, repair damaged tissue, and improve mobility.

A wonderful morning celebrating World Kidney Day!

Thank you to Tygerberg Hospital for hosting a fantastic Fun Walk in support of kidney awareness. Our donor coordinator, Zenobia, had a great time at the Vitanova stand meeting new people, answering questions, and raising awareness about the importance of tissue and organ donation.
