While our Instagram has been quiet, we have not been. In our 18 month break from Instagram, Candice got Married and is now Mrs Starr, she completed the PG dip ANMS course through Wits to improve the way she approaches injuries as you can never know enough.

We have also been busy getting a website up and running, which you will hear more about soon.

In Pilates, exercises are carefully used to strengthen the core and work on the sequencing of movement.

🌊 These exercises are aimed at strengthening your gluteal muscles as well as retraining the timing between your gluteal muscles and hamstrings. It is a great exercise to dissociate your hip and core movements.

🌊 Here are four progressions. Start slowly and progress from the easier options.

❗️The emphasis is on being slow and controlled rather than pumping out as many reps as possible.

Scapula strengthening exercises correct and teach your scapula to move correctly. Keep the resistance light to help you use the stabilising muscles rather than your bigger moving muscles.

📌 Exercise 1: Double arm row. Keep your shoulders down.

📌 Progression 1: Single arm row. Make sure you keep your body facing straight.

📌 Progression 2: Bent over row. Shoulders over wrists, hips over knees with a strong, neutral back.

📌 Progression 3: Plank row. Keep your core tight.

🌊 Physiological changes occur in the short term with cold water immersion. With repeated cold water immersions, adaptive responses develop with health benefits.

🌊These benefits include improving recovery and muscle mass, delaying the onset of hypoxia, improving sports performances, decreasing inflammation and improving the immune system.

🌊Swimming in any body of water presents drowning risks, and cold water shock can cause drowning or cardiac arrest.

🌊So as long as you are responsible a quick swim can have positive benefits for your body.
