Meet the newest member of our clinical team! ✨

We are thrilled to officially welcome Samantha Melis to Jen Dunn OT.

Samantha graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town and was awarded the national OTASA Marie du Toit Prize for her clinical research. She joins our practice with a shared dedication to oncology and lymphatic health, and is certified in breast cancer rehabilitation.

What makes Samantha’s approach truly unique is her background as a professional dancer and qualified ballet teacher. She brings an incredible eye for movement analysis and body awareness to her therapy sessions, helping our patients regain their functional independence with confidence.

With Samantha on board, we are so looking forward to being able to support more of our community through their recovery journeys.

Hydration Matters for Your Lymphatic Heath

Hydration is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to support your lymphatic system — especially during the hot summer months.

When you’re well-hydrated, lymph fluid moves more easily through your body, helping reduce swelling, improve circulation, and keep your tissues healthy.

Here are some easy summer hydration tips:
💧 Keep a water bottle with you at all times
🍉 Eat hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, and berries
⏱ Sip water throughout the day instead of drinking all at once
☀ Replace fluids after being outside in the heat
💛 Listen to your body — thirst is a late sign!

Your lymphatic system works hard for you. Staying hydrated helps it do its job.

Your daily activities shouldn't be a struggle. Let's talk about lymphoedema.

At the Lymphatic Therapy Centre, our belief is that no condition should keep you from doing the things that bring meaning to your life. That's why we want to talk about lymphoedema, a common condition that causes swelling and discomfort.

This swelling can make it difficult to wear certain clothes, feel comfortable in your own skin, or even move freely. But there is help available.

Treatment is a Partnership. Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), led by our qualified therapists, is a proven way to manage symptoms and regain control. It's a journey, but you don't have to take it alone.

If you're struggling with swelling and feel like it's holding you back, please reach out. We can work with you to find a management plan that works for you, so you can get back to living your life to the fullest.

Navigating lymphedema can be challenging, but you don't have to do it alone. At Lymphatic Therapy Centre, we offer Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT)—a comprehensive approach to managing your condition.

A certified lymphedema therapist will conduct an in-depth assessment and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. We use a combination of gentle techniques, including:

Manual Lymph Drainage: A specialized, gentle massage to encourage fluid movement.

Compression Therapy: Using wraps or garments to support the affected limb.

Education: Learning about skin care, nutrition, and exercise to help you manage your symptoms every day.

We are so excited to share some great news! Our amazing therapist, Jen Dunn, has just completed her training in Specialist Lipoedema Management.

But what exactly is lipoedema? It's a condition that affects many women, causing a disproportionate buildup of fat in the lower body and sometimes arms. This isn't your typical weight gain—it's often painful and doesn't respond to diet or exercise. People with lipoedema often have a much smaller upper body compared to their legs, and may experience easy bruising and a feeling of heaviness.

Lipoedema can be difficult to diagnose, but Jen's new skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating the condition mean we can provide the support and management so many people need.
