The Teenage Girls Commission echoed this sentiment: "When a child is younger than 16, it is r**e, guys, it is r**e. Even if the child said yes, I don't mind; it is r**e at the end of the day. "

GREAT CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT IDEA FROM A TEACHER THAT REALLY WORKS

"My students are obsessed with these little guys — they literally beg me to bring them out. But here’s the catch: Quiet Critters only come out when the room is calm and focused.

👉 They “live” in a soundproof jar. Loud noises hurt their ears, but whispers are okay.
👉 They sit on students’ desks to watch and learn. You can pat them, but if you try to play or pick them up… they get scared.
👉 If a student gets too loud, the critter scoots to the edge of the desk as a warning. Keep being loud? Back into the jar it goes!

At the end of the lesson, whoever still has their Quiet Critter earns a reward — but honestly, most kids just want to keep their critter happy.

And the best part? They’re SO easy to make: pom-poms + googly eyes + little felt or foam feet (I cut mine into heart shapes). Hot glue and DONE.

It’s the simplest classroom management hack… and the cutest one, too."

Powerful article to read and reflect on. How can we as adults give children the freedom to play?

One perspective is often missing from research about why children spend so much time on screens: the kids’. So Lenore Skenazy, Zach Rausch, and Jonathan Haidt polled 500 children, who explained how childhood is changing—and how to make it better. https://theatln.tc/pc8Tgj2J

Happy Fathers day to all the amazing dad's out there!

To the biological dads, the adoptive dads, the stepdads, the granddads, the uncles who became father figures, the single dads doing it all, and the men who may not have children of their own but show up with strength, care, and guidance - today, we honour you!

We see the early mornings, the quiet sacrifices, the steady hands, the protective hearts, the humour, the wisdom, and the unwavering presence. We know fatherhood doesn’t always look one way. Sometimes it’s expressed in teaching a life skill, offering a shoulder to lean on, packing a lunchbox, or listening with intention.

To the dads who are doing the healing work to show up differently from the generations before them, we acknowledge your courage.

To the fathers no longer with us,we carry your legacy with love!

To those grieving a father or a fatherhood they hoped for, today may be tender, and we hold space for that too.

Your role is irreplaceable!

Your love shapes futures!

Wishing all those who embody the heart of a father a meaningful Father’s Day!

You are appreciated. You are needed. You are seen.

This weekend was filled with knowledge, networking and lots of fun!

On Friday and Saturday I attended a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Level 2 workshop hosted by Werner Teichert. And today was the Teens and Tweens conference hosted by Professional Minds!

Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to deepen my understanding and grow professionally through such insightful and inspiring trainings. It’s a privilege to keep learning, evolving, and connecting with others in the field.

To my clients: I’m looking forward to integrating these new skills into our sessions and continuing to support you with fresh perspectives and renewed insight.

🌿 Mental Health Matters: A Gentle Reminder

As we navigate the pressures of daily life, such as deadlines, parenting, studying, caregiving, and just trying to stay afloat - it’s easy to forget one simple truth: you are human.

Mental health is not just the absence of illness; it’s the presence of balance, emotional awareness, and self-compassion.

If you’ve been:
✨ Feeling overwhelmed
✨ Struggling to sleep or focus
✨ Avoiding people or responsibilities
✨ Or simply not feeling like yourself...

Please know that you are not alone, and support is available.

Therapy is a safe, confidential space to unpack what’s on your mind, learn effective coping strategies, and reconnect with your values and strengths. You don’t need to “have it all together” to reach out for help.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is ask for support.

Whether you're exploring therapy for the first time, seeking guidance for your child, or just curious about mental health, I'm here to support you. Feel free to message me or reach out via email if you’d like to book a session or simply ask a question.

Take care of yourself - your mental health is worth it. 🌱
