Somebody asked me about my arm bracelet. This is a Bantu copper bracelet, called "mphiri" in my mother tongue. It is not a bracelet for fashion but it has its own spiritual powers. In ancient Bantu societies they mined gold, silver and copper since they were metal workers. They manufactured these kinds of body accessories, for themselves and for the kings. Sometimes these bracelets could be found under your pillow in the morning or you could find them in river waters or in the bushes. But because of lack of knowledge we just pass them or we throw them away or even sell them. But they supposed to be our gifts.

But what is the use of "mphiri" bracelet? This copper bracelet has many different uses and is popular amongst our societies. Amongst the uses are:

1. For HEALING - you wear it on the arm;
~ at the side where you feel pain or sick, e.g. shoulder discomfort or broken finger,
~ to calm down spirits if sometimes they attack you whenever you are in public places,
2. For PROTECTION - you wear it because;
~ it was given to you by your ancestors for protection against evil forces, e.g. sorcerers or witches,
~ your ancestors want to indentify you with it within a family with other beliefs,
3. For SPIRITUALITY - it is given to you as;
~ an instrument for use in spiritual practices and rituals,
~ an accessory in practice of median, throwing bones or on the wish altars.

Most people who wear "mphiri" are without doubts ancestors people, but there are many different reasons why people wear it. Know your culture and how things happen.
